The **Camp Coordinator** at Art With A Heart develops and delivers engaging and inclusive summer camp experiences for children, teens, and adults with disabilities, focusing on mindful expressive arts programming. They oversee program planning, material acquisition, behavior management, and staff mentoring, ensuring activities are safe, inclusive, and high quality, while prioritizing participant well-being and safety. Through effective leadership by camp co-ordinator, the team will enable children/youth/adults to develop skills (technical and art skills), form friendships, practice social skills, participate in mindfulness and mental wellness activities, and build self-esteem.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Develop and deliver engaging and inclusive summer camp experiences for children, teens, and adults with disabilities, focusing on mindful Expressive Arts Summer Programming.
- Assist in planning summer activities by designing curriculum and ensuring alignment with organizational and safety priorities for participants, their families and our facilitation team.
- Monitor camper conduct, assist team in preparation of behavior strategies, and handle emergencies including medical situations, calling parents/guardians and providing one-on-one support to campers.
- Ensure activities are safe, inclusive, and of high quality, prioritizing the well-being of participants.
- Organize and assist with set-up and clean-up.
- Lead pre-and post-camp meetings to address concerns and escalate issues, if necessary, to the Recreation Programs Director and ED.

**Leadership Responsibilities**:

- Leadership role in facilitating 8 weeks of Expressive Arts Summer Camps.
- Manage and supervise camp counsellors with responsibilities including program planning, material acquisition, delegation of material preparation, arranging material pick-up, and assisting with program delivery and administration.
- Creation of team schedules.
- Supervising, organizing and encouraging staff in curriculum preparation and material management for programs.
- Coach and mentor facilitators, and support team members
- Enforce safety protocols and oversee daily cleaning and maintenance of materials and spaces used by the team.
- Foster positive relationships among staff, ensuring effective conflict resolution and meeting camper needs.

Administrative Responsibilities:

- Keep detailed attendance records.

AWAH is an arts-based organization that frequently engages with vulnerable communities, including seniors, individuals with special needs, those focused on mental health and wellness, and residents of at-risk and low-income areas. We collaborate with local community organizations that support these groups, aiming to develop a deeper understanding of working within the social services sector and enhancing our communication to create a "safe space" for these communities. Access to Registered Psychotherapists, Expressive Arts Therapists, and other team members with backgrounds in social services will facilitate the adoption and learning of the language used by these groups throughout this placement.

- Expressive Arts and general arts experience, camp experience or program facilitation is an asset.
- Skills in group dynamics and online group facilitation are an asset.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum 1-year(s) experience in leadership and program coordination
- Minimum 1-year(s) experience in leading expressive arts programming or related experience
- Post-Secondary education in Social Science, Education, Art or related programs.
- Experience with Expressive art therapy programs
- Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment, responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity.
- Experience working and leading teams.
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C
- Valid G-Class driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 8 weeks

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
