**Unit/Project Description**:
The Student Success Centre (SSC), Student Affairs serves an integral, central role in the development and provision of innovative programs and services to students in the areas of First-Year Experience (including outreach, access, transition, and orientation, financial education and support, and the Archway Program, the full-year First-Year Mentorship Program); Academic & Writing Skills Development; Career Counselling, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Experiential Learning; International Student Services (ISS) and Global Experience; Spiritual Care and Learning; Leadership Development; and Student Community Relations.
The Student Success Centre works in strong collaboration with Student Affairs, Faculty, and University partners, and with external community partners through the Office of Community Engagement (OCE). The vision for the SSC is for all students and alumni to thrive and realize their academic, professional and personal aspirations. The McMaster University 2021-2024 Institutional Priorities and Strategic Framework, as set forth by University President David Farrar, highlights the key priority of advancing and supporting innovation in teaching and learning. The Student Success Centre, within Student Affairs, undertakes a lead role in the development of a holistic student experience, beginning in the first year and extending beyond the classroom, which fundamentally supports the transformative learning of students.
This personalized, engaging, and holistic student experience is intended to promote personal growth, support health, self-efficacy, and well-being, and enhance a sense of belonging, inclusive community, and connectedness of all students within the McMaster University community.
**Job Summary**:
The Assistant is responsible for organizing and performing a full range of administrative duties that require a thorough understanding of established functions, policies, and procedures. Designing multimedia content for print, web and video in accordance with University brand guidelines. Planning and coordinating a variety of events. Responsible for providing direction to others in how to carry out work tasks.
**Purpose and Key Functions**:
- Design multimedia content for print, web and video in accordance with University brand guidelines.
- Liaise with a variety of stakeholders to promote department in print and online, in cooperation with internal departments.
- Collect and develop content for a variety of communications including but not limited to, newsletters and press releases.
- Collect, analyze, assess and summarize information relevant to the decision making process and developing recommendations for final approval and implementation.
- Plan and coordinate a variety of events, conferences and activities.
- Prepare estimates of time and resources required for various events, conferences and activities.
- Complete travel expense reports, electronic cheque requisitions and purchase orders.
- Monitor budgets, verify data and reconcile event accounts.
- Update and maintain information and content on websites and social networks.
- Resolve issues relating to events, committees and activities.
- Take meeting minutes for committee meetings.
- Create a variety of documents including, but not limited to, correspondence, reports and procedure manuals.
- Update and maintain confidential files and records.
- Handle sensitive material in accordance with established policies.
**Requirements**:
3 year Community College Diploma in Communications or Multimedia Design.
Requires 2 years of related experience.
