**About us**

For 50 years Nellie’s has been providing shelter and support for marginalized women and their children in the Greater Toronto Area. We operate programs and services, for women and their children who had or are experiencing violence, poverty, and homelessness. Nellie’s works to lessen homeless for women and their children whether the cause is family violence, mental health, or any other reason that results in dealing with the impact from trauma.

Our core operations involve our 38-bed emergency shelter for women and their children who are homeless or escaping violent situations. In addition to our shelter, Nellie’s operates Community Support and Outreach programs that provides after care support and follow-up services to women and their children after they leave the shelter, as well as transitional housing support for women and gender diverse people living in the community who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless.

Nellie’s is currently looking to hire a Permanent Full-Time Case Management Worker in our Shelter Program. The main function of this position is to provide direct support & service to women, children & youth..

This position is open to all women*. Woman* signifies anyone who self-identifies as female, femme and/or woman. This includes transwomen, cisgender women, non

**Direct Support Services, for Women, Youth and Children**
- Completes full assessment and risk assessment/safety plans admitted to the shelter program
- Develops and maintain service plans
- Provides crisis support and counselling as needed
- Provides information and referral to community supports and services
- Develops safety and departure planning
- Provides individual weekly service plans
- Manage client caseloads and provide case management follow up to shelter workers
- Acts as an advocate and provides support and accompaniment as needed
- Liaise with shelter workers and other internal and external community as per client service plan
- Team case management duties
- Address any behavioral and emotional problems in children during crisis
- Provides aftercare support as needed

**Programming for Women, Children & Youth**
- Develop women’s programming that incorporates throughout all shifts
- Develop and facilitate age-appropriate programming for children and youth
- Liaise and act as an advocate with child protection agencies
- Develop and create leisure and educational programming for all the cultural holidays, based on the cultural calendar
- Plan social recreational outings with children, youth and women
- Develop and implement summer program for children, youth and women

**Shelter Administration**
- Maintains women & children’s files and completes all shelter documentation, on physical binder and data base. Ensure when a client leaves physical file is closed and filed away.
- Maintains service statistics
- Report writing as required
- Maintains office area in an organized, tidy and clean manner.
- Ensure all program numbers are properly recorded for both women and children and submit them to the shelter Direct Service Manager

**Social Justice, Community Education and Outreach**
- Outreach and participation in community actions
- Participation on Board Committees as required
- Public Speaking and community education
- Liaison with community support services

**Other Duties**
- Works co-operatively as a member of the shelter team.
- Participates in the orientation of new staff
- Supervise student(s) and/or volunteer(s)
- Attends regular relief team meetings, staff training sessions and planning meetings as required
- Trains, supervises and evaluates students and volunteers
- Share in on-call duties
- Assists with other duties as required, from time to time, aiding in the efficient operation of the organization
- Ensure pictures (consent if the women’s face is being displayed) are taken at all events and provide them to the Shelter Direct Service Manager
