Coordinator of People Engagement

**Reports to**:
Executive Director

**Overview**:
The Coordinator of People Engagement will review and update various policies and procedures to ensure diversity, equality, safety, and smooth operations. They will help to ensure good governance through the review of Corporate by-laws. They will be responsible for recruitment, screening, and scheduling and onboarding of paid and unpaid staff.

**Responsibilities include**:

- Reviewing current position descriptions, policies, and procedures
- Reviewing current recruitment policies, to ensure diversity and equality
- Reviewing upgrades/capital changes needed to facilities to provide programs most efficiently and safely as possible.
- Reviewing and developing various policy and procedure manuals such as current health and safety policies, current emergency procedures, insurance policies, Board policies and bylaws, and training/educational needs of staff and volunteers.
- Coordinating training for staff and volunteers on non-violent crisis intervention, mental health first aid, or similar topics.
- Maintaining volunteer contact information
- Recruitment, screening, training, and ongoing support to all volunteer roles
- Scheduling volunteers and staff
- Collecting and maintaining relevant statistics
- Supervising placement and grant staff, including students
- Following-up with volunteers to ensure they are correctly placed, and conducting exit interviews

**Qualifications**:

- Post-Secondary education in volunteer management; human resources; social services; or equivalent education and work experience
- Experience in managing and scheduling personal
- Experience in recruitment and training
- Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
- Positive attitude and team orientated
- Understanding of current trends and best practices in the charitable sector related to volunteer and staff management
- Knowledge of Board Governance best practices
- Ability to adapt to change and work flexible hours
- Bilingual French/English is asset
- Current Ontario driver’s license, auto insurance, access to a reliable car

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: $47,500.00-$50,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Ottawa, ON K1Z 8L5: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- Bachelor's Degree (required)

**Experience**:

- Human resources: 3 years (required)
