**ABOUT THE CANADIAN COMMISSION FOR UNESCO**
The Canadian Commission for UNESCO (CCUNESCO) serves as a bridge between Canadians and the vital work of UNESCO—the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. It promotes UNESCO values, priorities and programmes in Canada and gives civil society experts a voice on the international stage. The CCUNESCO operates under the aegis of the Canada Council for the Arts.
CCUNESCO is a network of networks that helps Canadians share knowledge, locally and globally, in order to build peace in the minds of men and women. To do so, the Commission facilitates cooperation in the fields of education, sciences, culture, communication and information to address some of the most complex challenges facing humanity. Its action is guided by the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and other UNESCO priorities. CCUNESCO, which is an autonomous body, operates under the authority of the Canada Council for the Arts.
**ABOUT THE ROLE**
Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Public Affairs, the incumbent plays an essential role in ensuring optimal visibility for the CCUNESCO.
**EDUCATION**
- Undergraduate degree in public affairs, journalism or communications, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience related to the responsibilities of the position.
**EXPERIENCE**
- Five (5) years of experience in areas directly related to the position’s primary responsibilities (public relations, social media, communications and media).
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES**
- Extensive knowledge of current best communication practices on social-media platforms
- Knowledge of the CCUNESCO and/or UNESCO is considered an asset
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment and adapt to multiple concurrent priorities
- Excellent writing, revision, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Cultural sensitivity and a commitment to principles of equity
- Excellent initiative, judgment, and ability to provide credible advice
- Exceptional tact, discretion and ability to deal with sensitive and confidential matters
- Excellent project-management skills
**BILINGUAL REQUIREMENTS**
- This position requires the use of both official languages. The requirements in the second official language are: an advanced level in oral, reading comprehension and in writing.
