It also responds to the Call to Action on Anti-Racism, Equity, and Inclusion in the Federal Public Service from the Clerk of the Privy Council.

This role expertise is to ensure that the CRCC operations and actions are consistent with the standards and expectations set in the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA) and the MMIWG Calls for Justice. This role will provide strategic advice on all matters related to Indigenous issues and affairs as these relate to RCMP organizational and individual conduct and will work with various business lines to develop strategic approaches to address issues. This role will also provide advice and guidance in developing communications, conducting consultations, and engaging in public awareness activities to promote and/or implement the goals and objectives of the CRCC.

Work environment

Are you looking for a small organization where challenges abound? Are you looking to put your skills and knowledge to good use and contribute to advising the CRCC as it delivers a robust complaint process that holds the RCMP accountable for its activities and the conduct of its members?

Participate as a representative at meetings, conferences and other forums when required.
Identify and address barriers preventing Indigenous people from accessing the complaint process.
Identify gaps experienced by Indigenous people as they relate to civilian oversight of police and provide advice as to how best to address them.
Who are we?

The Civilian Review and Complaints Commission for the RCMP (CRCC) is an independent agency. Created by Parliament in , the Commission receives complaints from the public and ensures that these complaints about the conduct of RCMP members are examined fairly and impartially.

In addition to accepting complaints about the on-duty conduct of RCMP members from individuals and reviewing the RCMPs investigation if the individual is not satisfied with the RCMPs handling of their complaint, the CRCC has two broad powers that ensure the RCMP is publicly accountable: initiating a complaint and conducting systemic reviews of RCMP activities.
