We are looking for a Technical Officer to support our Construction Research Centre. The Technical Officer would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

NRC Construction is implementing the “Platform to Decarbonize the Construction Sector at Scale” to accelerate and scale up new technologies to help transition the Canadian construction sector towards decarbonization and contribute to the emerging low-carbon economy. It will also establish new codes, standards, specifications, and guidelines to position the sector to achieve its 2050 greenhouse gas (GHG) carbon reduction targets. These investments will help spur the growth of Canada’s clean technology sector and help achieve Canada’s international commitments to reduce GHG emissions.

**Education**:
University degree or College diploma in civil/chemical/materials engineering or other discipline related to the position.

**Experience**:

- Experience providing technical support in a lab environment measuring corrosion activity in reinforced concrete.
- Experience with methods and techniques related to preparing for, conducting, documenting and analyzing experiments/tests in corrosion such as measurement of open circuit potential and linear polarization resistance.
- Experience with the safe operation, maintenance, verification, repair and installation of equipment and laboratory apparatus such as reference electrodes, potentiostats, multimeters and data acquisition systems.
- Experience working in a project management focused multi-disciplinary research environment.
- Experience in corrosion field assessment of infrastructure would be considered an asset.

- Knowledge of applied practices and basic concepts relating to corrosion measurement of construction alloys. General knowledge of related industry trends, developments and best practices.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety best practices required to create and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
- Ability to analyze and discuss technical issues, troubleshoot and solve problems relating to corrosion measurements.
- Ability to write reports and draft protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Ability to use specialized domain-specific software including CorrWare, ZPlot and MATLAB, as well as general office software products.

**Compensation**:

From $58,445 to $80,040 per annum.
