**About the role**
The Equity and Engagement Lead is an integral member of the Engineers Canada Belonging and Engagement team and is responsible for managing the completion of project deliverables tied to our core purpose to promote diversity, equity and inclusion in the profession that reflects Canadian society and our strategic direction to realize a more inclusive profession. This role supports the Manager of Belonging and Engagement in designing, planning, and delivering system change initiatives that maximizes interest holder adoption and balances time, scope, and cost. As a member of the Belonging and Engagement team, the Equity and Engagement Lead also manages staff and volunteers in the development and execution of workplans and contributes to the evolution of interventions and solutions that support equity and inclusion for leaders, teams, and organizations to lead change proactively within a rapidly changing environment.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Oversee the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of key diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives such as the 30 by 30 annual conference and Champion Programs. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet predefined quality standards.
- Identify potential issues in project timelines, resources, or interest holders’ relationships early on, and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks. Utilize judgment to balance competing project priorities and propose solutions that align with organizational objectives.
- Supervise a team of staff and volunteers, guiding them in the development and execution of work plans. Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment that supports the team in achieving project goals while addressing any challenges or roadblocks that arise.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external interest holders, including community groups, industry partners, and volunteers. Facilitate communication to ensure alignment between project objectives and interest holders’ expectations, encouraging active participation and buy-in.
- Track project data and metrics, ensuring effective collection and analysis to inform decision-making. Provide regular updates and recommendations to the Manager of Belonging and Engagement to adjust strategies as needed, ensuring continuous improvement and responsiveness to emerging trends.
- Contribute to the development of interventions and solutions that support systemic change in the engineering profession. Proactively propose ideas that enhance inclusion efforts, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and external brand promises.
- Oversee project budgets and resources, ensuring they are effectively utilized and aligned with strategic priorities. Ensure that financial targets are met, and where necessary, reallocate resources to support project success.
- Support change management initiatives by aligning internal cultural shifts with DEI goals. Assist in implementing strategies that enhance organizational alignment, staff engagement, and the adoption of inclusive practices.

**Education and Experience Requirements**
**Education**
- Graduate from a recognized University or College with experience in project management, change management and event planning.
- This role necessitates experience in developing inclusive strategies for organizational change, transformation, and alignment, specifically in the areas of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (EDIA).

- Strong networking and outreach skills with community not-for-profit groups, industry interest holders, and employers.
- Lead a team to successfully execute projects both remotely and in person, ensuring effective collaboration and communication across all team members.
