In April 2024, the Boards of St. Mary’s General and Grand River Hospitals both independently voted in favour of a voluntary merger of the Hospitals to form a new hospital organization. This evolution of our partnership will occur alongside our joint redevelopment work, as we strive to build a new acute care campus in the community. As Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital build the “Future of Care” together and a unified new hospital starting in April 2025, we are looking to recruit for a full-time **Respectful Workplace Consultant **.
**How the Respectful Workplace Consultant support our teams**:
The Respectful Workplace Consultant (RWC) is responsible for conducting Formal Respectful Workplace Investigations where appropriate. Following the investigation of a complaint, the RWC will provide a report including the findings and recommendations to the applicable stakeholders. The RWC will provide coaching and education to GRH Representatives with the goal of improving skills and building capacity in the areas of improved communication, collaboration and conflict management.
**Position Requirements**:
- Review annually the complaint process within the respectful workplace program and recommend any necessary improvements to the efficiency and timelines to the process
- Execute a fact-finding investigation when a formal complaint is filed.
- Issue a comprehensive post-investigation report with recommendations for resolution.
- Ensure the organization’s policies and procedures comply with all relevant legislation and collective agreement provisions including the Ontario Human Rights Code, and Bill 168 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Develop and provide regular reporting on caseload.
- Develop and deliver coaching and formal training to individuals, units/departments and/or the entire corporation to ensure both compliance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and other applicable legislation and to improve the quality of the working environment.
**The Respectful Workplace Consultant brings the following**:
- 3-5 years’ experience in providing a range of organizational-based dispute resolution mechanisms, including fact finding investigation, mediation and or coaching
- Minimum of an undergraduate degree in legal studies, education or conflict resolution
- Post graduate diploma or certificate in conflict management, coaching or alternative dispute resolution
- Demonstrated ability to conduct objective, impartial investigations
- Ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external stakeholders
- Strong active listening skills
- Ability to engage and empower individuals to work collaboratively to solve problems
- Good attendance record
