Support Staff Full-time Replacement Position
(First consideration for Support Staff and Academic positions will be given to internal applicants in accordance with the respective Collective Agreements)
Under the direction of the Associate Director, Early Childhood Professional Resource Centre and Community Partnerships, the Pedagogical Consultant will plan and deliver continuous professional learning and development for the early years’ community in the Waterloo Region. They will guide and mentor those working in the early years’ community to align their programs and practices with local and provincial pedagogy.
**Responsibilities**:
- Gathering and analyzing feedback about professional learning activities offered at the Professional Resource Centre (PRC)
- Identifying national, provincial, and local trends that contribute to quality early years’ programs
- Creating a priority plan for continuous professional learning activities and capacity-building supports
- Communicating and collaborating with members of the college community and the broader early years community in the Waterloo Region
- Creating and implementing various professional learning activities (i.e., workshops, symposiums, learning series, pedagogically focuses staff meetings)
- Guiding and mentoring professionals working in the early years’ sector, locally and provincially
- Facilitating accredited continuous professional learning
- Creating, implementing, and analyzing informal assessments of early learning environments' needs and areas of growth within the community
- Recommending, coordinating, and securing quality professional learning facilitators
- Providing consultation and ongoing support to those leading, supporting, and working within the early years sector
- Identifying and sharing information about Conestoga College offerings, and other avenues to support the sector in building professional credentials
- Communicating respectfully and collaboratively while upholding confidentiality and professional standards
**Qualifications**:
- Minimum two-year diploma in Early Childhood Education, Social Sciences, Education, or a related field of study is required
- Minimum five years of practical experience working directly with professionals who support children, families, and the early learning sector, including three years of practical experience in leadership/advising roles and supporting the professional learning and development of adults is required
- RECE must be in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- Clear criminal record check with the vulnerable sector screening required
- Well-developed coaching and active/reflective listening skills, with awareness of the challenges and barriers faced by those working in the early years sector
- Knowledge of Conestoga’s programs and services, the regional and local labour market, industry/employment trends, and best practices in recruitment and retention
- Strong verbal communication and human relations skills with a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging
- Proven ability to write clear and concise letters, summaries, reports, resource materials, site notes, and other communications
- Experience in planning and facilitating meetings with internal and external supports and stakeholders
- Ability to interpret, understand, and create reports, legislation, guidelines, policies, funding information, and service agreements
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with standard office software and tools
- Fluency in French is an asset
- Established relationships with the early learning sector in the Waterloo Region is an asset
- Access to reliable transportation and ability to travel to various community childcare centers
