**RESOURCE CONSULTANT - CHILD CARE**
**Location**:Rotational throughout Fairy Glen locations
**Hours**:Regular Full-Time (Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours/week)
**Compensation**: $29.00 - $32.00/hour

**About Fairy Glen Day Care Centres**:
Fairy Glen Day Care Centres offer children a variety of experiences at their age and developmental levels. We use observation, documentation, creative brainstorming, and flexibility to create an inclusive environment for children to learn and explore. Our educators at Fairy Glen expand on the children’s natural curiosity about the world around them and learn through new experiences. While establishing positive, responsive relationships with the children and their families.
**About the Role**:
The Resource Consultant role involves working with, and providing support to, Fairy Glen Day Care’s licensed child care programs, educators, and families regarding children who require additional supports. This role includes working alongside the supervisor, educators, and families to participate in the identification and development of Individualized Support Plans/Safety Plans and assist in the submission of outside agency referrals as required. The Resource Consultant will mentor and model strategies and supports that are conducive to the child’s developmental goals and that align with Fairy Glen Day Care’s Program Statement and Valued Goals while providing the perspective of inclusivity, diversity, and equity. This role will assist with program consultation, professional development opportunities, and outside agency referrals as required.
**Key Responsibilities Associated with the Role**:
- Work as a team with Fairy Glen Day Care educators, families, partners, and outside agencies to support the developmental goals of children within the program.
- Participate in program observations to assist in developing Individualized Support Plans and Safety Plans.
- Assist in identifying children’s developmental goals and mentor the program educators in the implementation of supporting strategies.
- Facilitate referrals to outside agencies, as required.
- Participate in team meetings with community partners, the site supervisor, families, and educators, as required.
- Utilize resources, such as screening tools and No Wrong Door, to develop and implement ISP’s and safety plans.
- Conduct regular site support visits and complete follow up notes with ongoing goals and action items.
- Respect the space, equipment, materials and ensuring proper health requirements are always being met.
- Ensure that all educators, children, and families feel welcomed and safe within our centres.
- Demonstrate acceptance by learning and acknowledging children and families diverse needs and backgrounds to affirm equitable opportunities for children to explore and engage.
- Build and maintain relationships with families by including them in the support plan process.
- Assist educators and site supervisors in building and maintaining learning environments both indoors and outdoors that are rich in potential and allow the children to thrive.
**Skills Set and Qualification Requirements**:
- A minimum education of an Early Childhood Education diploma combined with graduation from the Resource Consulting program or equivalent with 3 years of relevant experience.
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Knowledgeable of How Does Learning Happen?, No Wrong Door, Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA), and Durham Health regulations.
- Efficient organization and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, time-management, problem-solving and judgment skills while working collaboratively with colleagues, families, and community partners.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and communicate effectively during sensitive and/or difficult conversations.
- Sound understanding of child development, current practices, and early learning perspectives.
- Ability to identify, plan, and implement intervention strategies for children with exceptionalities, including ASD, ADHD, ODD, social/emotional trauma, academic, developmental, speech and language concerns.
- Must be able to travel to multiple locations within Durham Region on a regular basis.
- Must be able to contribute to a healthy team environment by demonstrating reliability, trustworthiness, accountability, professionalism, confidentiality and represent the organization with the community.
