**Dragonfly Counselling & Support Centre** is hiring a full time **Youth Education Coordinator** to join their Education & Community Outreach Team.

All work at the Dragonfly Counselling & Support Centre (DCSC) will reflect the Mission Statement and philosophical beliefs of the organization. DCSC is a not-for-profit, charitable organization that supports children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced sexual abuse or assault, and educates the public about sexual violence.

The Youth Education Coordinator will use best-practice community development models to implement a primary preventive program that targets children and youth to address issues related to sexual violence and healthy sexuality.

This position operates from a regional office in Bonnyville, providing significant outreach to communities in North Central and Northeastern Alberta (I.e. Slave Lake, Wabasca, Smoky Lake, Athabasca, Lac La Biche, Bonnyville, Cold Lake, St. Paul) and other rural and/or remote locations including Métis Settlements and First Nations.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Prevention Education & Awareness
- Oversee day to day operations of the Education & Community Engagement Program, including supervising a team of Educators and Communications supports, (full-time), practicum students, and volunteers
- Lead community development activities to build program profile, develop and maintain relationships with key community stakeholders;
- Comfortably present topics including sexual abuse and assault, consent, okay and not okay touches, private parts, personal boundaries, healthy relationships, etc.
- Develop and facilitate sexual violence workshops and presentations for community groups and agencies (i.e., students, regional schools, parents, teachers, youth conferences/forums, paraprofessionals, public)
- Provide professional development training programs for community agencies, frontline staff, community workers and others around issues of sexual violence
- Stay up to date on sexual violence and healthy sexuality trends
- Provide support and crisis intervention to people disclosing sexual assault
- Research and contribute information to the educator's library
- Provide accurate and timely referral information to relevant service providers
- Implement tracking processes and support reporting needs that ensure transparency and accountability
- Work in partnership with other DCSC staff to explore new and/or innovative ways of offering programming around issues of sexual violence
- Identify and respond to public outreach opportunities including organizing community events, workshops, and displays
- Oversee the implementation of the agency’s Communication Plan, supporting both internal and external initiatives. And support the development and maintenance of communications calendar and strategy for online, social media, paper, radio, community newsletter, and other methods of advertising
- Lead special projects that support the agency's strategic goals
- Assist with agency reporting as directed by the Supervisor

**Qualifications**:

- Degree in Social Work, CYC, psychology or other human service work preferred, will consider diploma in SW, community service or equivalent
- Experience in education and or public speaking and working with youth
- Experience in a leadership or supervisory role is an asset
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Adaptable, organized, and self directed
- Ability to manage and implement change effectively
- Comfortably presenting on topics including private parts, okay/not okay touches, consent, sexual abuse/assault, personal boundaries, healthy sexuality, healthy relationships
