**Role Responsibilities**:
Situated within the Policy, Practice, and Program Development Branch of the Child Intervention Delivery Division, the Practice Supports team supports the well-being of children, youth, and families through a provincial focus on clear and consistent direction and guidance for front-line casework practice. Work in this branch impacts province-wide policy, practice and program development by finding innovative solutions and exploring best practices to improve the way we operate.

As a Program Consultant, you have extensive** front-line child intervention **experience and understand how the system in place impacts the realities of front-line service delivery. You also demonstrate a strong understanding of current child intervention practice, including the Child Intervention Practice Framework (CIPF) and Practice Strategies for Lifelong Connections, and associated child protection legislation.

Through your ability to **develop networks **and **build collaborative environments,** you engage with stakeholders, including front-line regional staff and other CFS departments and other ministries as well as external stakeholders such as contracted agencies, caregivers and Delegated First Nation Agencies (DFNAs) to better understand their perspectives and illicit feedback. Using analytical and evaluation skills, you are able to use this information to help identify potential gaps, trends and common issues which inform proposed changes to policies, practice, or programs to improve the way we provide services and support CI practitioners.

From a systems perspective, you understand the complexities and interconnectedness of the Child Intervention system, recognizing the impacts of changes in one area of practice/policy have on the system as a whole, including impacts on other policies, trainings, or even technology systems like CICIO, for example.

As a Program Consultant, success is achieved by managing diverse, complex and sensitive assignments. You demonstrate agility by being flexible and adaptable in responding to changing priorities and tight timelines. You have political awareness and are able to support writing briefing notes and responding to action requests from executive leadership. You understand the political context that Children and Family Services operates within, including the impacts of our work on policy, practice, and program improvement and the importance of publicly committed improvements based on feedback from critical stakeholders, such as the Office of the Child and Youth Advocate, Fatality Inquires, Ombudsman, and others.

Through your communication and relationship building skills, **you are developing others** by influencing and enabling stakeholders to understand and implement new or updated policies, programs and practice with the intent of achieving practice consistency throughout the province. You are also experienced with **Indigenous communities and culture **and have the ability to incorporate the indigenous perspective into your ability to foster meaningful relationships and deliver meaningful results.
