Jr. Maintenance Technician

The Jr. Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining housing units and buildings on behalf of York Property Management. Main duties include assisting the Maintenance Technicians as required, attending to maintenance issues and subsequently completing repairs as required. Strong communication and time management skills are required.
The Jr. Maintenance Technician works in collaboration with the Maintenance Technicians and Maintenance Coordinator and ultimately reports to the Maintenance Manager.
**Responsibilities**
1. Maintain housing units to ensure the units are safe and in an adequate condition:
- Assist the Maintenance Technician with minor repairs as required
- Complete work orders assigned daily
- Assist in cleaning/maintaining Grounds and common areas as required
- Work alongside the Maintenance Technician to develop maintenance skills
- Move materials as required
- Clear and dispose of any debris on assigned properties daily
- Complete sidewalk and entrance salting and shoveling
- Strictly adhere to all health and safety requirements
- Ensure regular garbage removal and recycling pick up occurs; take garbage bins in and out on pick up day
- Ensure parking lot is monitored and maintained for safety
- Ensure overall cleanliness of property
- Other duties as assigned
2. Perform administrative duties
- Keep a daily log of tasks completed
- Schedule, prepare and distribute 24-hour Notice to Enter units
- Coordinate with maintenance supervisor if an extra person is needed to complete the repairs
- Enter time tracking into property management software for payroll purposes
- Maintain equipment and tools
3. Carry and respond to emergency maintenance phone line on rotation
4. Perform other related duties as required

- Experience with repairs in plumbing, electrical, ventilation and water systems

- Experience in residential property management and maintenance is an asset

- Ability to use and/or learn how to use new technology
