As a Cook 1, you will play a vital role in delivering delicious, high-quality meals that exceed guest expectations while maintaining our kitchen standards.

**Job Overview**:
As Cook 1, you will prepare meals according to portion and quality standards, ensuring that every dish meets Marriott’s high standards of excellence. You will be responsible for managing your section’s food usage, minimizing waste, and ensuring smooth operations during service.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Prepare meals for the restaurant, outlets, or other kitchen sections according to recipes and quality standards.
- Coordinate smooth service in relation to food pick-up and pass delivery.
- Organize daily prep for cooks and restaurants; supervise line set-up and ingredient preparation.
- Monitor inventory and report low-stock items or assist with ordering necessary supplies.
- Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards in the kitchen to meet or exceed health regulations.
- Report any unsafe or malfunctioning kitchen equipment to the supervisor.
- Assist in training kitchen staff and ensure all tasks are completed during shifts.
- Promote teamwork and communication with other departments, including Sales, Catering, Banquets, Maintenance, and Guest Services.
- May occasionally interact directly with guests to ensure satisfaction.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including helping other cooks or performing kitchen maintenance tasks as needed.

**Qualifications and Requirements**:

- High School diploma or equivalent, with 2 years of experience in food preparation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certification in culinary training or apprenticeship, and Red Seal Certification preferred.
- Ability to lift items up to 50 pounds and remain stationary or move about the kitchen for extended periods.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for interaction with staff and guests.
- Ability to read and follow recipes, assist with kitchen staff scheduling, and keep track of inventory.
- Basic math skills for measuring ingredients, calculating percentages, and managing food costs.
- Alcohol awareness certification or valid food handler card required as per local regulations.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
