BGC South East is seeking a skilled and dedicated Centre Cook/Program Support to join our team at St. Genevieve Childcare Centre. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of children by planning, preparing, and serving nutritious lunches and snacks according to the Canada Food Guide.
Salary and Benefits:
The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary of $20.00 per hour, with opportunities for additional compensation through a wage enhancement program. Additionally, we offer an annual wellness package, vacation days, and extended health care benefits.
Job Description:
The Centre Cook/Program Support will be responsible for:
- Developing menus that cater to the dietary needs of children with special requirements and/or food allergies.
- Delivering snack and meal carts to program rooms.
- Maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, adhering to Ministry and Public Health guidelines.
- Ensuring safe food storage and disposal, and complying with all health and hygiene requirements under food safety legislation.
- Communicating with daycare program staff regarding daily menu changes or feedback on menu items.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Safe Food Handling Certificate.
- Standard CPR/First Aid Level C certification.
- A Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Previous experience in childcare or a related field, preferably with cooking experience.
- Knowledge of food preparation, meal planning, and food safety practices.
Work Environment:
This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday, with occasional evening or weekend shifts required. The work location is based in person at St. Genevieve Catholic School.
