Cook/kitchen Support Staff

**Responsibilities**:
- Supervise and lead volunteers during weekend shifts, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
- Adhere to safe food handling practices, maintaining the highest standards of food safety.
- Assist the cooks by preparing food items according to written and verbal instructions.
- Prep and cook weekend meals, maintaining quality and consistency.
- Address and resolve any issues or challenges that may arise on-site during operational hours.
- Support volunteers, ensuring their job satisfaction and addressing any concerns or questions.
- Maintain building security and follow closing procedures.
- Communicate effectively with the team
- Supervise Weekend Volunteers, Meal Service and any problems or issues that arise during the shift documenting any incidents of concern.
- Manage and document food donations that arrive during the day to ensure that items are properly stored.
- Assist with clean up and closing
- Work independently, take initiative, and provide leadership during weekend shifts.
- Drive the company vehicle as needed (clean driving license required).
- Follow all rules, procedures and maintain a safe welcoming environment for volunteers and guests.
- Perform other related duties as may be required.
**Qualifications**:
- Excellent communication and time-management skills, ability to work in a team environment.
- Up-to-date Safe Food Handling and First Aid certifications (training provided if necessary).
- Acceptable Police Criminal Records and Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Evidence of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
- Self-motivated, able to take initiative.
- Ability to set priorities and manage work with a minimum of supervision.
- First Aid and situational awareness training would be an asset.
- Food Handlers Certificate
- Valid and clean driving license for the use of the company vehicle.
**Education & Work Experience**
- Experience in management, and front-line supervisory capacity.
- Experience working as a volunteer or with volunteers in a non-profit environment. would be an asset
**Special Requirements**
- We require proof of 2 Covid Vaccinations and a Vulnerable Sector CPIC
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From $20.60 per hour
Expected hours: 25 - 37.5 per week
