Reporting to the WorkBC Contract Manager, the WorkBC Client Advisor joins a multi-faceted team who are making a difference in people’s lives every day. The objective of all Client Advisors is to assist all eligible WorkBC Clients along the continuum to achieve either community attachment or long-term permanent attachment to the labour market. The objective will be met through case management services of individuals assigned to the Client Advisor. Case management involves assessing Client needs, determining the clients’ specific goal - employment or community attachment - and providing the relevant employment supports and services required using a client-centred process. The Client Advisor is responsible for the overall case management of individuals to align with WorkBC policy.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
WorkBC Case Management is a collaborative process between a Client Advisor and a Client. All Client Advisors’ duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Using a Client-centered process, provide ongoing Case Management that adheres to WorkBC Policy which includes but is not limited to the following activities:
- Create a mutually agreed to Action Plan - this is an individualized plan in which a Client and the WorkBC Client Advisor set employment goals and objectives and where any steps, services or supports, identified as necessary to support Employment Objectives, are summarized and documented. Each Action Plan is unique and reflects the Client's strengths, employment considerations and employment service needs;
- Reviewing of activities and results
- Monitoring and supporting Client progress
- Revising and updating the Action Plan and recording results
- Maintaining contact with clients at regular intervals
- Maintaining the Client’s file within the ICM (Integrated Case Management) computer system.
- Assess and identify eligibility and suitability for program financial supports for job search and access to WorkBC services; financial supports essential for job start; training-related supports; self-employment supports; and paid and unpaid work experience placement supports
- Refer to appropriate specialized service providers as needed
- Support Clients throughout the case management process with employment coaching & counselling until service objectives have been met - employment or community attachment
- Provide an appropriate level of support to Clients in accessing community resources contained within their action plans such as specialized assessments, financial, housing, legal, food, addiction, etc., including facilitating and following up on referrals where and when required
- Ensure that clients have undertaken labour market research about employment and career goals as needed by assisting the Clients in accessing and understanding relevant information
- Support Clients as needed in accessing other potential employment program options
- Develop, revise, update, and document progress toward employment and employment readiness objectives and record completion of agreed services, supports and other employment considerations, activities and tasks
- Liaise with agency partners, service providers, community agencies and employers as required during service provision
- As and when required, assist in the delivery of job clubs and workshop curriculum, for all WorkBC Clients (case-managed and non-case-managed), including workshops on job search techniques (resumes, cover letters, hidden job market, interview skills, etc.), career decision making/ planning (identification of suitable employment/career objective, occupational & educational research, etc.), employment maintenance, assessing and developing essential skills (reading, document use, numeracy, writing, oral communication, working with others, thinking, computer use and continuous learning) and assessing and developing life skills (self-esteem, time management, workplace behaviour, stress and anger management, etc.)
- Support self-serve Clients in the resource room requiring assistance with resume and cover letter development, job search skills, interviewing techniques and financial support on an as-needed basis.
