**Primary Functions of the Position**
- Assists the Communications team in developing key messaging.
- Writes and proofreads internal communications to parishes, priests, and archdiocesan staff.
- Designs and updates website landing pages for various events and campaigns.
- Contributes to the social media editorial calendar and post engaging, inspiring content.
- Uses Photoshop, InDesign and Canva to design and update promotional materials and social media content.
- Writes content for both print and web including the Archdiocesan websites, newsletters, and print materials.
- Make sure that all RCAV materials meet brand standards including for sub-brands such as Behold, Proclaim, Gardens of Gethsemani and others.
- Works against specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and provides actionable insights to improve social media content, website performance, and multimedia development.
- Write and edit sensitive communication for senior-level executives, including the Archbishop of Vancouver.
- Develops copy and visual content for distribution on social media channels including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
- Conducts research to determine appropriate communities, sites, forums and platforms to engage people and disseminate news.
- Works directly with graphic designers, photographers, videographers in content development and the distribution process.
- Proposes innovative ideas to improve social communications.
- Is immediately available in case of crisis.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
- A bachelor's degree in Communications or other relevant education is considered an asset.
- Proficient in web design and layout, the creation of social media graphics and promotional print materials.
- Experience with WordPress, HTML and CSS.
- Strong understanding of designing intuitive website functionality, architecture, user interfaces, and navigation.
- Design skills with the Adobe Creative Suite considered an asset.
- Basic video editing skills is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn and other social media platforms.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written communication skills, including copywriting and proof reading.
- Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision.
- Exceptional customer service ethic and high expectations for quality.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments from a variety of staff and stakeholders
- Good understanding of the Archdiocesan principles, practices and organization.
- Good working knowledge of current issues and conditions affecting the Archdiocese of Vancouver and the Catholic Church.

**Conditions of Employment**
- An active member of a Catholic parish.
- Strong knowledge of Church teachings relevant to Archdiocesan offices.
- Successful Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search required prior to start of employment.

**Working Environment**
- This is a full-time position and may require occasional evening and weekend work.
