**Title**: Student, Urban & Away From Home
**Contract**: 4 months
**Salary Range**:Up to Bachelors: $19.38 to $25.44 per hour. Masters: $22.44 to $28.90 per hour.
**Hours**: 37.5 hours (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)
**Location**: 100 Park Royal South, West Vancouver. Hybrid working is an option in line with FNHA’s flex work policy.

**About the role**
As the Student, Urban & Away From Home, you will support the Urban and Away-from-Home Team in seeking to expand the scope and function of the FNHA’s responsibilities to support the health and wellness of the urban and away-from-home First Nations population in BC. The student must be open to travelling for engagement related purposes.

Support the following UAH Objectives in the Health Benefit and Services Strategic Plan (23/24 to 28/29):

- Engage and collaborate with FNHA departments and Regions to advance team priorities.
- Engage and collaborate with partners to advance First Nations interests and priorities across the health system.
- Develop and identify sustainable and effective urban and away-from-home engagement pathways that support FNHA health and wellness planning.
- Lead and support the development, re-design and/or implementation of programs and initiatives that benefit the urban and away-from-home population.
- Raise awareness about the services available to the urban and away-from-home population and expand opportunities for the urban and away-from-home population to stay connected with the FNHA.
- Work with internal and external partners to enhance cultural safety in health and wellness services for the urban and away-from-home population.
- Enhance information briefing and reporting to the CEO.
- Advance planning and engagement towards developing a data strategy that informs urban and away-from-home health and wellness service planning.
- Improve understanding of internal and external programs and services available to the urban and away-from-home population.
- Students will participate in regularly scheduled team and department meetings and events, as required.

The position may involve the following tasks:

- Support preparing materials, coordinating logistics, and participating in virtual and in-person engagement activities and events with the urban and away-from-home population, BC First Nations, urban Indigenous service organizations, and health system partners.
- Participate in internal and external working groups, committees and meetings in support of the health and wellness of the urban and away-from-home population. Tasks may incude drafting presentations and documents, summarizing meetings, tracking next steps, and following up on action items.
- Support the development and implementation of annual communications plans. For example, reviewing and updating the communications list of organizations that provide services to or communicate with the urban and away-from-home population in BC.
- Support in the preparation and review of briefing notes, reports and other written documents on topics related to the health and wellness of the urban and away-from-home population.
- Support data entry for various projects
- Identify and map internal and external programs and services available to the urban and away-from-home population.
- Support the evaluation of a funding program for urban and away-from-home initiatives.
- Support the implementation and evaluation of the Mobile Device Initiative
- Build and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally to the organization. For example, supporting collaboration and information-sharing through the Urban and Away-from-Home Community of Practice.
- Collate, review, synthesize, and summarize information to support activites such as the development of internal e-newsletters.
- Support collaboration with partners to address the social determinants of health, such as housing and homelessness

**About you**
To be successful in this role you will have:

- Experience in any of the following areas an asset: research, writing, policy analysis, engagement, communications, data management and collection.
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate level Public Policy, Public Health, Public Administration, or other related program required.
- Strong analytical thinking skills: ability to organize, synthesize, summarize and critique information.
- Strong research skills: resourcefulness, and the ability to conduct literature reviews.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Teamwork/collaboration skills; emotional intelligence and the ability to communicate effectively.
