**Student Support Coach**

Reporting to the Director of Programs, the Student Support Coach provides ongoing mentorship and support for students in ACCESS programs. The Student Support Coach is also responsible for preparing reporting as required by the Director of Programs and our funders.

**Our Student Support Coach has a variety of key duties and responsibilities**:

- In collaboration with the marketing team prepare brochures and posters to promote program.
- The Coach will support Employment Services to recruit participants through marketing, and participate in interviews to assess overall suitability for the program.
- In collaboration with Employment Advisors assemble client documents prior to interview; including Personal Information Form (PIF), math assessment, resume, and post-secondary registration forms.
- Schedule applicant interviews for programs.
- In collaboration with the instructors and the Director of Programs incorporate cultural components into the program through various activities.
- To monitor the emotional progress, academic, and life skills of students and work with the trainee to remove barriers to success.
- Maintain contact with instructors at Indigenous Skills for Success (IS4S) and training provider to obtain feedback on students’ overall progress.
- Assist clients in locating and utilizing community resources including legal aid, medical and financial assistance, counselling, housing, and other referral services as needed.
- Maintain constant contact with students in person, by phone, and group chat.
- Maintain student files and prepare reports as required.
- Maintain contact with training provider staff to provide information and obtain feedback on students’ overall progress.
- On completion of the program, and in collaboration with Employment Services Staff, support the student to ensure they have an up to date resume, cover letter, and are prepared for interviews, prior to referral for employment.
- In cooperation with employer partners support transition to employment.
- Maintain contact with students and employers to ensure clients are successful on the work site and collaborate with employers and the client when problems arise.
- Continually seek out new employment opportunities and partnerships
- Collect and compile success stories complete with photos for publication on social media and the ACCESS annual report.
- Prepare cheque requisitions as required for Director’s signature.
- Maintain daily journals of work activity including details of conversations with students.
- Advise Employment Services of any changes to schedule, students leaving the program, overall completions, and employed status.
- Provide ongoing follow up support up to six months after completion of the program.
- Post-secondary training in social services, child and youth care, counselling, education or health related discipline or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Previous experience as an employment counsellor, job coach, or job developer would be an asset
- Knowledge and experience in data-entry and in employment, education and social services resources
- Knowledge and understanding of the urban Indigenous community and culture
- Sensitivity and understanding of Indigenous clients facing multiple employment barriers
- Excellent oral, written, organization, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Strong ability to develop and maintain effective and collaborative internal and external working relationships in alignment with ACCESS Core Values
- Excellent computer skills in MS Office including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel
- Valid drivers license and access to a personal vehicle is a requirement
