**Full Job Description**
Onua Bakery is a unique artisan bakery & café renowned for its freshly baked artisanal sourdough and African-style bakery products. Our diverse range includes bread, cakes, cookies, meat pies, cupcakes, chips, and other pastries.
**Duties**
**Cook**
- Create new recipes.
- Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards.
- Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods.
- Requisition of food and kitchen supplies.
- Cook and prepare various foods according to production guidelines and standardized recipes.
- Operates equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
- Arrange, garnish, and portion food according to established guidelines
- Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
- Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils
**Pastry-help**
- Assist in preparing and baking a wide range of pastries, cakes, and desserts.
- Ensure all pastry items are presented attractively and according to established standards.
- Assist in developing new pastry recipes and menu items.
**Qualifications, Skills, and Conditions**:
- Culinary degree or certification in Baking and Pastry Arts is highly desirable.
- Experience in short-order preparation and fast cooking techniques in a restaurant or a cafeteria.
- Previous experience in the food industry, preferably in a restaurant or bakery & cafe setting.
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and presentation.
- Red Seal certification would be an asset.
- Positive attitude and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

**Pay**:$18.00-$20.50 per hour

**Physical Demands**: The physical demands this position is exposed to are: The employee will be on feet most of the day. Employee must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
**Experience **in cooking is a must, with a minimum of 3 years required. Additionally, possession of a Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent certification is preferred.
**Location**: Ottawa, ON K1N 0E7. Please note that you should be able to reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $18.00-$21.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
