**As a GIS Technician you will**:
- Conduct research and verify geographic data
- Complete map deliverables for a variety of archaeological projects (Stage 1-4) using ESRI software, including quick capture
- Maintain GIS database, quality check data for mistakes and troubleshoot data issues
- Collect data and compile reports using various data sources including: LiDAR, GPS, etc.
- Ensure maps are annotated and completed with correct information
- Produce maps, spreadsheets, graphs, and other analytical products and determine how best the information can be displayed using GIS
- Travel to various project locations to work with archaeological teams on complex data capture issues
- Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging
- Perform other duties in support of the department as assigned
**Skills and Qualifications**:
- Minimum 1-2 years of ESRI experience
- Post-secondary education in GIS, Geomatics or Field Technologies is preferred
- Strong proficiency with ESRI software and experience customizing workflows
- Experience with archaeology projects is considered an asset
- Proficient with the use of computers and software, including MS Office (Word, Excel)
- Solid understanding of how to read and interpret site plans
- Be a champion of inclusion and diversity
- Excellent safety and attendance record and previously demonstrated strong safety awareness
