Coa Curriculum Coordinator

**Context**
Since 1998, in partnership with the Government of Canada, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has been providing pre-arrival information and Orientation sessions to refugees approved for resettlement to Canada in over 90 locations worldwide. This flagship programme is called Canadian Orientation Abroad (COA).
Responsibilities: Regularly research, follow-up, compile, develop and present new pre-arrival content, as well as extensively analyze and adapt existing content in the COA Adult and Youth curricula with accompanying activities for refugees/immigrants including information on employment and workplace expectations in Canada
Independently lead the review and update of the content of current pre-arrival information and orientation materials (Participant Workbook, Mobile Application, Audiobook) for Adult and Youth refugees as necessary, as well as any other category of immigrants identified as a priority by IRCC
Analyze and develop content for new pre-arrival information and orientation tools and resources for refugee and immigrant clients, in collaboration with COA facilitators and the COA Communications and Information Assistant
Serve as the focal person for Global COA staff on questions related to COA content and curriculum, respond to staff inquiries and provide specialized support and guidance to them so they can answer clients' questions accurately
Review and update content of existing reference tools for internal use by COA facilitators, such as Thematic Fact Sheets, Frequently Asked Questions, Reference Guides and Cultural Profiles, and identify and develop new resources to support COA Facilitators in providing pre-departure orientation to refugees/immigrants and referrals to other services
Plan and coordinate comprehensive delivery schedules for the development of curricula/tools, with the breakdown of activity milestones, division of roles and regular review by COA Management and other internal colleagues/departments. Provide instructions to reviewers, facilitate internal discussion meetings, and implement feedback. Track the progress of activity milestones to ensure delivery of the product by the deadline
Coordinate surveys and consultation with COA Management and Staff to inform the content of the COA curricula, activities and reference tools
In collaboration with COA Management and with support from the COA Programme Assistant, coordinate, plan and facilitate virtual and in-person collaboration workshops for COA facilitators to discuss best practices and frequently asked questions, staff meetings to present programmatic updates, as well as Training of Trainers (ToT) about new curriculum or topic areas for newly recruited staff or professional development of existing staff
Contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to COA content and curricula; Identify, document and disseminate best practices and lessons learned related to pre-departure orientation trainings for refugees to COA staff
Elaborate and disseminate the COA curricula with/to service provider organizations in Canada and propose strategies to increase continuity of information for clients between the pre-arrival and the post-arrival stages
Attend relevant meetings and sector conferences for clients between the pre-arrival and the post-arrival stages
Attend relevant meetings and sector conferences with donors, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
Assist in providing guidance and training to other locally recruited internal staff within the unit relating to the overall COA programme and the curriculum
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned
Qualifications: Education
Bachelor's degree in Immigration, Education, Law, International Relations or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least 5 years of relevant experience in Canada; or
Master's degree in Immigration, Education, Law, International Relations or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least 2 years of relevant experience in Canada.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
Understanding of international refugee migration issues, and more specifically, the pre and post-arrival stages, in the context of Canada's resettlement programme.
Experience in curriculum development targeting newcomer refugees/immigrants in Canada.
Experience in implementing professional development initiatives and facilitating workshops for staff.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret information from difference sources.
Demonstrated ability to collect, compile, and consolidate information and share it with a variety of partners, clients and stakeholders.
Experience in developing a long-term multi-stakeholder curriculum project within the timeline.
Knowledge of the Canadian Resettlement Program and the settlement challenges faced by refugees and immigrants settling to Canada is an asset.
