The Human Resources Leader contributes to the overall success of the Human Resource Department by creating a positive and harmonious experience for all employees. You will need to have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to create long and lasting relationships. You will need the ability to identify gaps, lead change, and champion the HR program. You are the initial point of contact for all new employees and are a key ambassador to Milestone and representing its brand and culture. The objective of the Human Resource department is to support our management team with HR related queries, recruit positive & motivated people, and retain the great people we have, who all share our mission, vision, and values.

**What You Will Do**:

- Report to and work with the Director of Corporate Operations (DCO) in all HR related requirements
- Demonstrate and lead by example Milestone’s mission, vision, and values each day
- Lead the creation of procedures, practices, and documents
- Create learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees
- Help create development paths for appropriate staff to advance into leadership roles and organizational development as required to close knowledge and skills gaps
- Review, improve and update any company policies for compliance across the organization
- Partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s HR and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning
- Provide support and guidance to management and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations
- Oversee, facilitate, moderate, and/or document employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
- Assist with all internal and external HR related matters
- Act as an initial point of contact for employees who may be having external difficulties that could affect job performance, while directing employees to the resources required.
- Act as a neutral party through all aspects of an investigation and promotes a fair and neutral process for all parties involved
- Ensure Milestone is maintaining compliance with federal, provincial, and local employment law and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance
- Analyze trends in compensation and benefits; research and propose competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, new technologies in HR, talent management, and employment law
- Create a positive employee experience while maintaining and promoting positive company culture
- Maintain complete confidentiality and a professional position on all HR related matters including personal employee information, internal HR practices, gossip, wages, and all office and field investigation proceedings. Confidentiality is critical and any breach in confidentiality is considered grounds for dismissal. Any/all HR related information is required to be kept strictly confidential and to be discussed and/or shared with Superintendents, DCO, and/or President. HR related information includes (but is not limited to): employee personal information, employee contract details, wages, dismissals, leaves, and/or investigations.
- Communicate and consult regularly with the DCO with updates regarding the status of allegations, complaints received, any compliance risks and investigations in progress
- Attract leads for top talent that align with brand and core ideology
- Set and lead the standard for professionalism in the organization
- Attend and represent Milestone at career fairs, hiring fairs, and other HR related events

- Good understanding, knowledge, and awareness of current BC Employment Standards, Human rights principles, and best practices
- Must be detail oriented, analytical, problem solver and creative thinker
- Highly committed to creating a harmonious and positive experience for all employees
- Efficient in HR Administration and Microsoft Suite products
- Strong analytical problem solving and root cause identification skills
- Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences while maintaining strong relationships
- Ability to take initiative and proactively drive HR initiatives, campaigns, and projects
- Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizatio
