Why is this role important?
- The Program Consultant will lead collaboration cross-functionally to support CIHI’s Indigenous Health Strategy. Reporting to the Manager of Indigenous Health, the Program Consultant will lead, coordinate and implement priority activities in CIHI’s Indigenous Health Strategy

- What you'll do
- 1. Leads and supports strategic activities within CIHI’s Indigenous Health Strategy:
- Engages with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis organizations (e.g., builds and maintains relationships through meetings with Indigenous organizations)
- Respectful governance of Indigenous-identifiable data (e.g., that strengthens CIHI’s approach to upholding principles of Indigenous Data Sovereignty)
- Advances cultural safety and humility within CIHI (e.g., developing training)
- Analysis and capacity building initiatives with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis partners (e.g., co-development of indicators of cultural safety in health systems; supporting Indigenous data requests and capacity building activities)

2. Provides strategic advice and works collaboratively with colleagues and internal stakeholders to support the communications plan for CIHI’s Indigenous Health Strategy.
- 3. Develops and coordinates project plans, manages timelines, leads and participates in meetings.
- 4. Participates in the departments operational planning and corporate reporting.
- 5. Prepares a range of written materials including presentations, reports, and briefing notes pertaining to First Nations, Inuit & Métis priorities.
- 6. Develops and delivers internal and external presentations in support of CIHI’s Indigenous Health Strategy.
- 7. Participates on external committees and/or represent the Indigenous Health team at conferences and events, as required.
- 8. Establishes, coordinates, and/or supports ad hoc and standing internal and external committees related to CIHI’s Indigenous Health strategy.
- 9. Maintains knowledge of current and emerging health and data priorities of First Nations, Inuit and Métis governments, communities and organizations.
- What you'll bring to the table
- Graduate degree or equivalent combination of experience/education in Indigenous Studies, population health, epidemiology, health sciences, public administration, communications, public relations, or other relevant area.
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience working in First Nations, Inuit or Métis organizations or in support of Indigenous Peoples. Strong preference will be given to those who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit
- Strong networks with First Nations, Inuit and/or Métis Peoples, communities, and organizations is required. Experience and networks in the health, data, research and/or government sectors are preferred.
- Knowledge of Indigenous health and social issues and social/political context of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples.
- Strong facilitation, engagement, and partnership development skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a matrix environment and independently with shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
- Problem solving and coordination skills, with a high level of accountability.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
