About the service: Office of the Vice-President, International and Francophonie

The Office of the Vice-President, International and Francophonie oversees the design, coordination and implementation of internationalization strategies across uOttawa. This includes establishing international private and public sector partnerships, supporting the internationalization of research and curricula, and expanding international opportunities for the uOttawa community. The Office is also mandated to carry the University's vision for the Francophonie and to promote its leadership role within the Ontario, Canadian and international Francophonie and its bodies, as set out in the University's new strategic plan, Transformation 2030.

Position purpose:
Reporting to the Senior Advisor, International Students Services, the incumbent provides leadership and guidance on the University Health Insurance Program (UHIP) and changes in business processes. Work with partners to identify and mitigate potential risks and act as a liaison officer with the IT team. Play an important role in the design and testing of the solutions put forward that support various endeavours to improve the efficiency of the organization’s operations. Working closely with clients and various levels of management to provide business expertise and support in the delivery of UHIP, with the goal of providing an exceptional experience to the student while meeting program requirements and the University’s objectives.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

- Business Analysis: Contribute to the evaluation of the business and operational requirements of client needs, both explicit and implicit, and investigate improvements to the procedures, implementation and development as deemed necessary. Write business cases, and communicate and validate these with teammates, manager and others involved in the process in order to maximize the effectiveness and minimize the impact of obstacles.
- Operational Services: Lead a team to ensure the delivery of essential services to students and the associated billing, and act as an expert to resolve complex requests from students or complaints escalated to the next level. Implement operational processes and prioritize service requests to provide quality student services. Work according to established operational and customer services norms, and intervene quickly to correct data or system issues.

What you will bring:

- University Degree in Commerce, Administration, Mathematics or Economics, a related field, or/and an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience supporting business units and their operations
- Minimum 2 years of supervision experience
- Thorough knowledge and experience of business processes, rules and management systems that are used by the University, including academic regulations and processes.
- Knowledge of project management methods and practices.
- Analytical skills to convert business requirements into functional specifications, as well as the ability to conceptualize individual requirements and create links between different stakeholders’ needs.
- A clear understanding of the Canadian healthcare and insurance systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Ability to manage and resolve unusual, contentious and/or sensitive legal matters in dealing with a wide variety of members while maintaining diplomacy and professionalism.
- Strong attention to detail for working closely within systems and across different environments.
- Ability to adapt to changing requirements and processes, challenge ideas, and accept new methods and procedures.
- Ability to be proactive in keeping abreast of new/emerging business processes.
- Can be called upon working with different teams and projects within the department.
- This position may require the incumbent to work outside of regular office hours and on weekends.
- Bilingualism - French and English (written and spoken).
