**POSITION**:Data manager

Maelstrom Research (maelstrom-research.org) is a scientific platform based at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI MUHC). The team is specialized in the development of methods and software supporting data harmonization and integration process across large epidemiological studies. Maelstrom Research also coordinates the generation of large harmonized datasets (over 300,000 participants) integrating data across national and international cohort studies. The multidisciplinary team, currently composed of 15 members, is looking for someone who has experience in managing large datasets and is interested in participating in the technical support for the platform’s activities.

**FUNCTIONS AND ATTRIBUTIONS**:

- Achieve technical work related to data management and validation;
- Validate data provided by external partners
- Evaluate the harmonization potential
- Process the data
- Conduct quality control tests on the data
- Prepare data for transfer to external research projects
- Provide technical support to the research team
- Participate in the development of standard operating procedures and scientific reports.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in biostatistics, epidemiology or related field;
- Experience in managing and validating data;
- Proficiency in using R statistical software;
- Experience in harmonizing and integrating data from multiple datasets would be an asset;
- Knowledge in Git would be an asset;
- Bilingual (French & English);
- Good organization and time management skills, and attention to detail.

**Status**:Full-time, one-year contract with possibility of renewal

**Pay Scale**: Subject to personal qualifications, remuneration respecting the salary scale of the RI MUHC (including insurances and other social benefits)

**SOMMAIRE DU POSTE**:
Maelstrom Research (maelstrom-research.org) est une plateforme scientifique basée à l’Institut de Recherche du Centre Universitaire de Santé McGill (IR-CUSM). L’équipe est spécialisée dans le développement de méthodes et de logiciels facilitant l’harmonisation et l’intégration de données entre études épidémiologiques de grande envergure. Le groupe Maelstrom coordonne aussi la production d’immenses ensembles de données harmonisées (plus de 300,000 participants) intégrant des données de cohortes nationales et internationales. Actuellement composée de 13 membres, l’équipe multidisciplinaire est à la recherche d’une personne ayant de l’expérience en gestion de grands ensembles de données et qui participera en au support technique des activités de la plateforme.

**FONCTIONS ET ATTRIBUTIONS**:
Sous la supervision de la directrice du groupe de recherche Maelstrom, la personne sélectionnée accomplira les tâches suivantes:

- Accomplir le travail technique lié à la gestion et validation de données
- Valider les données provenant des partenaires externes ;
- Évaluer le potentiel d’harmonisation ;
- Traiter/transformer les données
- Effectuer des tests de contrôle de qualité sur les données
- Préparer les données pour permettre leur transfert à des projets de recherches externes
- Fournir du support technique à l’équipe de recherche
- Participer au développement des procédures opérationnelles standards et de rapports scientifiques.

**EXIGENCES DU POSTE**:

- Baccalauréat ou Maîtrise en biostatistiques, épidémiologie ou autre domaine connexe;
- Expérience en gestion et validation de données;
- Maîtrise du logiciel statistique R;
- Expérience en harmonisation et intégration de données provenant de multiples ensembles de données serait un atout;
- Connaissance du logiciel Git serait un atout;
- Bilingue (français et anglais);
- Bonne capacité d’organisation et de gestion de temps, et attention aux détails.

**CONDITIONS DE TRAVAIL**:

**Echelle de rémunération **: Selon les qualifications, en respectant l’échelle salariale du IR-CUSM (incluant les assurances et autres avantages sociaux)

**Salary**: $48,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
