Position Summary
Assist with event planning, event logistics and implementation as well as updating and collaborating on event plans, site plans, contact lists, event debriefs, emergency plans

Assist with social media postings during events (Facebook, Twitter)

Research new entertainers and activities for events

Contact vendors

Perform administrative duties

Assist with event set up, including but not limited to, setting up and taking down tents, moving barricades and event supplies/equipment

Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Competencies
- MUST BE ENROLLED IN AND RETURNING TO FULL-TIME POST-SECONDARY STUDIES IN FALL OF 2023.

Experience with special events in a coordinating role, and/ or marketing and/or be enrolled in a program in recreation, tourism, and/or event planning

Experience supervising staff/volunteers

Current First Aid & CPR-B/CPR-C Certification is required; CPR-A Certification is not acceptable

Must possess and maintain a valid Class G driver’s license with a drivers abstract with no more than three demerit points

Access to own transportation during working hours is considered an asset

Experience working with social media platforms an asset

Knowledge of graphic design would be considered an asset

Skills, Abilities, Work Demands
Required to work occasional evenings, statutory holidays and weekends, depending on event schedule

Good planning, analytical, communication and problem solving skills

Good organization skills and able to handle pressure and meet tight deadlines

Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy

Working knowledge of computers, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher

Very strong written and verbal communication skills in English

Able to follow instructions and perform assigned duties with limited direct supervision

Ability to work in a team environment and independently

Must be punctual, reliable and presentable

Demonstrated customer service skills and ability to work with the general public

Able to perform the essential duties of the job such as lifting and walking/standing for several consecutive hours

Events are held both indoors and outdoors and may take place during extreme weather conditions. Must be prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions
