**The Role**

The Research Ethics Board Coordinator reports to the Manager, Research Ethics, Infrastructure and Oversight.

**Role Responsibilities**

**Responsibilities**:

- Analyze REB submission material, including protocols and supporting documents to ensure compliance with all applicable research ethics regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Perform quality assurance monitoring of research ethics board submissions
- Enter and support the analysis of REB performance metric data
- Communicate with investigators, assist research staff with REB submission preparation and also assist REB members with information and material required to perform quality reviews
- Develop and provide educational programs for investigators, research personnel, REB members and others to promote institutional compliance with research ethics regulations
- Support the development of new policies and procedures for improvement of program activities, including participation in development and/or refinement of data management tools and process improvement tools (REB submission forms, performance metrics, educational resources)
- Provide training, guidance and feedback to internal/external researchers, study coordinators, physicians, students and staff regarding REB submission processes & requirements;
- Supporting the onboarding and training new REB members
- Supporting key REB projects tied to the programs operational plan
- Other tasks as may be assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelors Degree in a related field (i.e. Nursing, Biology, Genetics, Psychology etc.) or equivalent combination of education/experience related to research ethics
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience in research ethics or acting as an REB coordinator
- Ability to advise and counsel on matters of general research ethics compliance and ethical human participant research practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem solving and decision making skill
