With year-after-year success and expansion comes the growth of our shop teams and the need for knowledgeable Shop Service Manager to oversee shop staff, operations, and maintenance.
**JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY**
As the Shop Service Manager, working closely with the General Manager, mechanics, technicians, and shunters, you will play a key role in Pro Reefer’s Manitoba shop operations by overseeing safety, maintenance, and orders, communicating with customers, managing shop staff, and providing both support and leadership.
**ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Work as tech doing repairs/safeties
- Teach/mentor junior techs and new hires
- Help road techs with repairs including occasionally going out to locations
- Schedule shop jobs
- Prepare WOs and quotes
- Daily communications with customers (dealing with quotes, POs, concerns, troubleshooting, etc.)
- Manage shop staff and delegate tasks
- Shop and yard maintenance - Review and approve WOs
- Scan and send safety copies to customers
- Manage shunting requests
- Monitor tech productivity and shop efficiency (ie quality and turnaround times)
- Finalize and submit payroll for shop mechanics
**THE IDEAL CANDIDATE (WHO ARE YOU?)**
- Has an in-depth understanding of the heavy truck/trailer repair and maintenance sector or similar/parallel industries
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment, is flexible, and works with a sense of urgency
- Is comfortable meeting/exceeding deadlines, managing priorities and time
- Has strong verbal communication skills and a teamwork ethic
- Is committed to processes, policies, and procedures
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail

- Demonstrates creative problem-solving capabilities
- Understands and prioritizes customer service in a service-driven company
**SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE/SKILLS**
- High school diploma or GED
- 5+ years of experience within the heavy truck/trailer equipment and repair, parts manufacturing, dealer sectors, or other similar industry
- Experience in a leadership role
- Able to stand, walk, sit, and lift up to 25 lbs
