Toronto, Canada Stewart Specialty Risk Underwriting Ltd. Full time

You will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, supporting the general ledger system, and performing detailed analysis of income statements and balance sheet accounts.

In addition to traditional finance responsibilities, you will be tasked with balancing claims reports, reconciling trust account transactions, and overseeing various claims-related accounting reconciliations. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both the finance and claims aspects of SSRU, an organization known for its expertise in providing tailored Property and Casualty underwriting solutions.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and timely internal and external financial reporting
- Support the maintenance and operation of the general ledger system
- Prepare, control, and monitor transactions for the month-end accounting cycle
- Analyze and reconcile income statement and balance sheet accounts, resolving discrepancies as needed
- Provide financial and non-financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to address problematic accounting transactions and find solutions
- Assist in developing annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term financial plans
- Support the claims department by overseeing claims-related financial reporting and analysis
- Manage and reconcile trust account transactions and claims-related payments
- Balance claims reports and perform various claims accounting reconciliations
- Participate in special financial projects as assigned

**Requirements**:

- Proven experience as a Financial Analyst or in a similar role, with a solid understanding of financial principles
- Post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; experience with SharePoint and financial systems is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team setting
