**Human Resources & Health & Safety Manager**

Western Truck Body Mfg. ULC, a subsidiary of Federal Signal has been the Canadian leader in the design and manufacturing of custom aluminum service truck bodies and accessories for over 60 years.

The Manager, Human Resources & Safety is a member of the management team and leads the development and implementation of the Human Resources and Safety System.

This is a hands-on Human Resources and Safety leadership role interacting closely with all levels of employees. The role is responsible for the development and implementation of Human Resources and Safety strategies, policies, practices and programs for employment, recruitment, training, and labour relations.

The Manager, Human Resources and Safety, ensures compliance to labor laws and regulations and acts as a key point of contact with government and other regulatory bodies for both Human Resources and Safety departments.

**Responsibilities**:

- Work with all levels of leadership to create a culture that supports Western Truck Body’s Mission, Vision, Values and Culture.
- Contribute Human Resources and Safety Metrics to Monthly and quarterly reports.
- Collaborate with the Leadership Team to support and manage the talent within Western Truck Body.
- Execute Western Truck Body’s Recruitment strategy to meet the needs of the company’s growth plan.
- Develop and maintain job descriptions and performance evaluations.
- Onboarding all new staff to ensure growth of Western Truck Body’s safety culture.
- Stay current on Human rights, employment standards and OH&S legislation to ensure compliance.
- Administer change and upkeep employee Benefits.
- Research, develop and implement HR and Safety policies and programs that support the growth and performance of Western Truck Body.
- Champion Western Truck Body’s Safety Culture and take a proactive approach to incident and injury reduction
- Ensure the Safety Management System supports a culture of safety excellence and reliable reporting.
- Creating, updating, and maintaining workplace hazard assessments as needed.
- Take on the Lead COR Auditor role and ensure all Health and Safety policies and programs are maintained at the highest level.
- Ensure all Incidents, Injuries and near misses are being reported and documented.
- Manage workplace training needs to ensure OH&S compliance
- Chair Western Truck Body Health and safety committee monthly meetings.
- Working with the Management team to manage injuries, WCB claims and return to work plans.
- Maintain a positive and growing working relationship with appropriate educational institutions, industry associations and networks.
- Other duties may be assigned as necessary

**Job Requirements**:

- Previous HR Generalist of 3 years is preferred
- Previous Health and Safety Management of 5 years is preferred
- Good interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all levels of staff while promoting a positive company image.
- Previous COR audit experience strongly preferred.
- A sense of urgency, good attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Independent decision-making skills and ability to work independently
- Highest level of morals, ethics, and honesty
- Advanced computer skills
- Excellent communication skills
