**How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team**:
The Technician, Environmental, is responsible for assisting in field logistics and supporting field teams working on various environmental programs and/or the monitoring, collection, analysis of environmental data.

**Major Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for conducting monitoring assessments and data collection for various environmental sites. Provides quality control of field records and detailed technical assessments.
- Collects, organizes, and executes data collection including the collection and management of biological, water quality and/or hydrologic data.
- Conducts regular site visits, including initiating contact with private landowners and other stakeholders as required.
- Assists with the coordination of materials, equipment and services as required.
- Participates in daily safety meetings including tailgate meetings, hazard identification and emergency planning.
- Ensures compliance with occupational health & safety policies and practices, and other TRCA policies, as applicable in various work environments.
- Takes part in the construction and instrumentation of sustainable water research projects and technology demonstrations.
- Collects monitoring data at STEP water monitoring projects. This involves, but is not limited to: Installation, operation, and maintenance of field monitoring equipment including field and lab calibrations, collection and processing of monitoring data and performing field level QA/QC on data and communicates with product vendors to ensure that each monitoring device is properly installed in the larger monitoring system.
- Works in partnership with internal and external stakeholders
- Assists in drafting technical reports, presentations, etc. under supervision.

**What will you need to succeed**:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses)
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Water Resource Engineering, or a related field.
- Valid Ontario Class G2 driver's license

Experience
- 2+ years experience performing the major responsibilities of the role.
- Working knowledge of water monitoring concepts and water monitoring instrumentation.
- Working knowledge of carpentry and operation of hand tools.

Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies
- Sound data management skills; experience working with databases and GIS software.
- Sound communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with the team.
- Experience interacting and connecting with persons of various social, cultural, or economic backgrounds; at ease with a variety of audiences.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate project status for various audiences.
- Able to self-manage workload and prioritize tasks as an ongoing challenge in a frequently fluctuating environment.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite, including online software such as MS teams, WebEx, and SharePoint); advanced MS Excel capabilities for analysis, data visualization.
