Manager, Fleet and Asset Disposal

**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Director, Logistics, the Manager is responsible for all aspects of contract management, operational planning, organizing, and directing of Fleet Services and Asset Disposal within Island Health and its affiliated health organizations. The Manager analyzes and evaluates the status of existing vehicles and negotiates contracts with external vendors for vehicle acquisition, maintenance and insurance. This position manages record keeping associated with the vehicle deployment, fleet profile, servicing and driver abstracts in accordance with provincial and federal legislation, and manages the elimination of VIHA assets that may have a residual value for the organization. The Manager participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of services, bringing a systematic and strategic methodology while providing technical advice and management support to program staff.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a field related to logistics / materiel management such as Business Administration. Five years recent, related experience in a healthcare environment including supervisory experience. System redesign and process improvement experience an asset. Thorough knowledge of the courier industry and working knowledge of the Transport of Dangerous Goods legislation as well material management is required. Valid BC driver's license and clear abstract is required.

- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
