Compensation Range

Job Summary

The International Programs & Transfer Credit Advisor role sits within Engineering Academic Services (EAS) and is responsible for providing leadership that supports international educational opportunities for students enrolled in the BASc., B.En.D., and B.Des. programs at the Vancouver campus. The International Programs & Transfer Credit Advisor is required to maintain an in-depth understanding of the requirements and options in all programs to provide accurate and consistent advice for students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities for this role include the development, implementation, marketing, delivery, and evaluation of all activities and advising services related to the Applied Science (APSC) student international experience to fulfill the Faculty’s mandate to increase student enrolment in international opportunities while ensuring student’s overall success. This includes marketing opportunities to students, assessing and evaluating current offerings, and updating current programs and opportunities.

Occasional evening and weekend work will be required.

Organizational Status

This position works as a member of the UBC Engineering Academic Services (EAS) team and reports to the Associate Director, Admissions & Enrolment. The incumbent will also interact regularly with the Go Global student mobility team, APSC Dean’s Office, CIE faculty and program advisors and the student service personnel within the faculty at the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses. This position works with considerable autonomy under broad direction from the EAS Associate Director, Admissions & Enrolment. Receives direction from the Director, Marketing & Communications to ensure initiatives align with brand standards and APSC marketing and communications strategies.

INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS

The International Programs & Transfer Credits Advisor will implement, coordinate and evaluate the APSC international learning opportunities for advancing, fulfilling, and honing the Faculty’s internationalization mandate. To this end the incumbent will:

- Evaluate, make and implement strategic recommendations for areas of growth in student participation in an international learning opportunity and potential improvement in student advising services.
- Represent the Faculty in the renewal and maintenance of established partnerships with university partner institutions, including managing UBC and partner goals and expectations, and hosting campus visits by delegates from partner institutions.
- Work collaboratively with key stakeholders and represent the faculty to establish new partnerships that align with UBC and APSC strategic goals on international learning.
- Develop and maintain relationships with APSC program advisors and administrators to deliver a coordinated advising and support system for students participating in an international experience.
- Oversee APSC exchange balances, problem-solve when related issues arise.
- Develop procedures to administer outbound student processes in coordination with Go Global. This includes processes of the program, organizing student outreach events, and evaluation of transfer credits.
- Evaluate outcomes of APSC students participating in international learning in fulfilling the Faculty’s strategic goals, analyze data and make recommendation for enhancements.
- Research the development of academic APSC exchange placements and curriculum mappings at international partner institutions through assessment of engineering (BASc.), environmental design (B.En.D.), and design in Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Urbanisms (B.Des.) degree requirements, discipline, and academic level.
- Attend fairs and outreach events, and deliver presentations to students and faculty members to promote international learning experiences.
- Facilitate pre-departure learning sessions, information sessions, and inbound students orientation programming in conjunction with Go Global.
