**Purpose**:
As partners in student success, The Division of Students provides services, programs and facilities that foster academic success, student development and community engagement. Supporting the Division, the Communications & Marketing Department creates strategic, timely, targeted, and engaging student-centric communications. Reporting to the Manager, Digital Marketing & Special Projects, the Digital Community Coordinator will support student service excellence and will be responsible for online community coordination, forum-based channels, video content creation, media monitoring and the measurement of digital engagement metrics. The Digital Community Coordinator will take responsibility for the digital community content plan, including maintaining the planning document and chairing internal digital community meetings.The Digital Community Coordinator will coordinate day-to-day digital engagement and other digital projects. This position will be responsible for building and maintaining a presence on platforms, including but not limited to: YouTube, Reddit, WeChat, eClass (Moodle), WhatsApp and student portals for the Division of Students. The coordinator will also work with Divisional student bloggers to help create content and develop and expand the reach of the blogs (i.e., YU Blog, VPS Blog). The role will be positioned to develop student centric content with the ability to both directly interact with the student community daily and drive shared content from all Divisional units. To support digital community goals and to ensure all communication channels and messaging are aligned, this position will work closely with members across the Digital Marketing team, Communications & Marketing Department, other Divisional units and across the organization.

**Education**:
University degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, Publishing, Design, or related field with an emphasis on social media, or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.

**Experience**:
Minimum of three (3) years recent related experience in the communications or marketing field with an emphasis on digital community management experience in a business setting. Experience using established and emerging digital media channels for communication, customer service and audience engagement with demonstrated experience in content development, including writing for digital media.

**Skills**:

- Professional use of social media channels in a business setting, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Reddit, WhatsApp, WeChat, forums, and blogging software.
- Effective oral and written communications skills including editing experience with English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Ability to write for digital media, SEO, and print production for a wide variety of audiences.
- Analytical skills for researching, selecting, testing, measuring, and reporting on traditional and innovative digital communication channels with the ability to effectively use tools to measure campaign success and deliver actionable recommendations to managers and stakeholders for consideration.
- Capacity for creativity and innovation, ability to exercise initiative, resourcefulness, and judgment.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, build and maintain positive working relationships and to coordinate cross-functional teams and projects.
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and discretion when working with confidential marketing information prior to publication/release and dealing with various levels of administration and external agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a project-based environment and handle concurrent priorities.Computer/Technical

**Skills**:

- Advanced and demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Advanced knowledge with online analytic tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Hootsuite, Sysomos Heartbeat).
- Intermediate knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, Bridge) and other digital platforms such as digital signage, GOAnimate, Captiva, etc.
- Aptitude for learning new software as required.
