Greenstone Gold Mines L.P. is a 60/40 joint venture partnership between Equinox Gold and Orion Mine Finance Group formed for the purpose of the joint ownership and development of the Greenstone Gold Property including the Greenstone Mine located on a historical mine site in the Geraldton-Beardmore Greenstone belt in Ontario. The Greenstone Mine is managed directly by a dynamic and experienced Owner’s team, with an estimated $1.5 Billion investment over the three-year construction and commissioning phase, and a 14-year operating life of mine.
Greenstone Mine is currently seeking a Superintendent, Sustaining Capital Projects. Reporting to the Project Manager, Sustaining Capital Projects, the incumbent for the Superintendent, Sustaining Capital Projects position will be responsible for all aspects of construction of a permanent lodge facility, relocation of the OPP facility, installation of new dewatering infrastructure and demolition of various structures. The incumbent will oversee all aspects of engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning for the projects, and is responsible to deliver the projects safely, on time and on budget at the required quality level.
**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE**:
- Collaborate with Project Manager, Sustaining Capital Projects and Operations personnel to ensure projects are properly scoped and planned, including execution strategy, support service requirements, schedule and budget
- Ensure a detailed understanding of all environmental and permit requirements for the site and the scope of work
- In collaboration with contracts, participate in the contract bid processes for engineering and construction contracts
- Oversee all engineering requirements, ensuring deliverables are at required quality and on time and that all engineering risk assessment have been completed
- Supervise construction contractors, and ensure all health and safety, environmental, quality and contract requirements are met
- Ensure commissioning requirement are properly planned, resourced and executed, and that turnover documents and processes comply with requirements
- Working with the project controls, actively manage contracts, schedule and costs
- Adhere to document control standards
- Review and approve progress payment certificates and invoice, ensuring accuracy and that work was complete
- Provide input to reports as required
- Work to proactively identify and mitigate risks and issues, and escalate concerns to management as required
- Provide coverage for other projects as required
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Strong knowledge and expertise in all aspect of safety, engineering, procurement, construction and quality assurance
- Knowledge of the mining industry and related legal requirements
- Excellent communication, negotiation and problem solving skills
- Must be results-oriented and able to prioritize and focus on the key deliverables
- Demonstrated ability to lead to execute plans and schedules on time and on budget
EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION
- Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Construction or Project Management, or equivalent experience
- 7 + years in project management or construction roles with experience in all project phases from planning through to commissioning
- Experience in the mining industry an asset
LOCATION
This position will initially be based in Greenstone, Ontario on a rotation basis.
Greenstone Mine provides company transportation from multiple pick-up point locations.
