Smitty’s Fine Furniture is a third-generation family-owned local furniture store specializing in Canadian-made quality furniture. Our passion is exceptional customer experience in every aspect of our business. For nearly 75 years, Smitty’s has been a trusted name in home furnishings in Southern Ontario. We value our loyal customer base, as well as our deeply experienced staff, some of whom have been on our team for decades. Our original location was based in Hanover, Ontario, and we are currently operating from two locations: Hanover and Kitchener.

Our approach to the market with our primary line of business is to promote and sell the top furniture and mattress brands manufactured in Canada. The majority of our product displayed on the floor is made in Canada. Our logo says it all“FOR THE LOVE OF CANADIAN FURNITURE”.

**About the Position**

The Sales Consultant supports the Company’s purpose to ensure that every customer who enters our store is given the best possible customer experience by helping our customers furnish their homes, from finding the right accessory to finishing the entire house. We sell a broad selection of quality Canadian-made brands and an excellent range of contemporary styles for every room; this allows the Sales Consultant to foster relationships with our customers through in-store and online consultations. The Sales Consultant provides guidance on selections and supports the customer from point of sale to delivery.

**This position is in our Barrie Store and the expected hire date is Mid
- April to be ready for our grand opening in May**

**About You**

**Your primary responsibilities will be**:

- Engaging and fostering customer relationships through in-store consultations
- Working with customers to customize their order
- Maintain a pulse on product information including available covers and configurations
- Participate in training sessions held by product reps
- Placing orders in our point-of-sale system and maintaining contact with customer for updates on lead times
- Provide customer post-delivery follow up and ensuring service matters or order changes are attended to promptly
- An opportunity to participate with in-home selling program (with appropriate training or prior Interior Decorating credentials)

**Your** **Education, **Skills**, and Experience**:

- Degree or Diploma from a recognized university or college in Design, Sales, or a related field
- Certified Interior Decorator would be considered an asset
- 3+ years of customer service experience preferably in a home furniture retail environment
- Excellent attention to detail, and a keen interest in interior decoration is a must
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task in a busy retail environment
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Ability to navigate the internet and use computer programs such Microsoft products (Word, Excel, SharePoint etc.)
- Highly driven goal oriented and motivated to achieve sales targets
