**Did you know?**
The Bank’s Oversight standards are based on internationally-agreed standards, the Principles for Financial Market Infrastructure (PFMIs). Bank oversight staff participate in various international groups that adapt existing standards to account for new industry and technological developments and monitor implementation of the standards.

The Market Infrastructures Oversight Division in the Supervision Department has oversight responsibility for central counterparties and securities settlement systems that process billions of dollars of trades per day. These systems are critical for the smooth functioning of securities and derivatives markets in Canada.

Following the Bank’s risk-based oversight framework, the division monitors risk management practices at designated systems, ensuring that they meet the Bank’s oversight standards. This requires close co-operation with staff and senior management responsible for the designated system and with other regulatory authorities, including regular virtual and onsite meetings. In addition, the division conducts research and analysis on issues related to risk management for FMIs, and provides policy recommendations to support the Bank’s role in domestic and international fora, including the Bank for International Settlements Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures.

**What will you do**

Under the direction of the Director of the Market Infrastructures Oversight Division, you act as a key member of the team responsible for the oversight of clearing and settlement systems that have been designated by the Bank. You work closely with the Director and staff in the division to support its contribution to analysis and policy advice on issues relating to financial and operational risk management. You play a role coaching others, and coordinating projects within the division and across teams to meet departmental objectives. You also collaborate with other domestic and international groups concerned with payment systems.

- good coaching skills for both current analysis and longer-term research

**Nice-to-have**
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM) or Professional Risk Manager (PRM) designation or certification, or the completion of courses towards these designations or certifications.
- knowledge of payment clearing and settlement systems (FMIs)
- experience developing policy related to the financial, payments, or technology industries
- practical experience with, or knowledge of, risk management practices at financial institutions
- experience participating in international or domestic inter-agency committees or working groups

**Your education and experience**

This position requires a master's degree in economics or finance with a minimum of five years of recent work experience in economic and financial analysis or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
