**Your Opportunity**:
The Maintenance IV position reports to the Manager of Operation, Facilities Maintenance and Engineering at the University of Alberta Hospitals (UAH) site. The UAH site comprises approximately six million square feet of clinical and mechanical space and is a 24/7 operation. The Maintenance IV role works in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team and is accountable to respond to all facility emergencies, mechanical, electrical, architectural and grounds issues, as well as, contractor coordination. This dual role will be trained in building maintenance activities and building management systems in Operations Centre. The role is required to assist in processing work requests, shutdown and start-up building systems, answering phones for customer service requests, front-end user-driven work orders, assisting trades as required and other duties as assigned. Maintain all systems that support patients and patient care areas, health care providers, laboratory space, and public safety.

**Description**:
As a Maintenance Worker IV, you will perform a variety of highly skilled and complex maintenance and repair work requiring considerable initiative and judgment in determining the appropriate work methods consistent with standards, regulations and procedures. You will utilize your supervisory and/or maintenance skills and experience to perform preventative maintenance and repair duties on specialized equipment and building control systems, and to provide leadership and direction to other maintenance staff in order to meet operational requirements. In addition, you will perform specialized machine repairs, as well as the maintenance and monitoring of systems and equipment. You may be responsible to resolve escalated operational issues; act as a delegate for the Manager on operational issues; participate in the recruitment and selection of new staff; assisting the design and implementation of preventative maintenance programs; estimate project costs; and liaise with outside agencies and contractors.

**Required Qualifications**:
Completion of post-secondary education in a related field and/or technical certification in a related field required or 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate as per ABSA kW rating guidelines where boiler support is necessary.

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
The Maintenance IV responsibilities will be to monitor, test, troubleshoot, document, install, repair, and maintain equipment at the UAH site. Recommend and implement preventive maintenance schedules, inspect renovation/construction areas, document time, materials used, reports and requisitions of supplies. Analyze performance of equipment in the field, monitor and operate BMS, Fire Monitoring and Alarm, HVAC equipment, VFD, PLC, Nurse Call and TAO phone system. Coordinate and collaborate with contractors and projects. Must be knowledgeable of hand tools and equipment used for maintenance. Self-direction, adaptability, and flexibility are required while working in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment. Requires the ability to work independently and effectively in an interdisciplinary setting and maintain high confidentiality. Detail-oriented, able to establish priorities and meet deadlines promptly and on time. Proven reliability and dependability required. Extended periods of sitting, kneeling, standing and walking is required. Must meet all organizational policy requirements for employment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have PC operating skills. Other responsibilities include, moving beds to and from User group location, attending to water leaks, changing light bulbs, cleaning and organizing storage areas, working in interstitial space and other duties as assigned by management. This position is available to the Zone as required.
