Your Opportunity:

This position reports to the Facility Manager and maintains the Hospital complex’s fan units and other HVAC equipment by monitoring and replacing filters, cleaning coils and plenums, diffusers, exhaust grills and keeping accurate records of this maintenance. The primary location will be at the Royal Alexandra Hospital but if an event unfolds, this person may be asked to work at other sites within the zone. Potential multi-site duties as directed by FM&E Director or Manager.

Description:

As a Maintenance Worker III, you may perform a variety of skilled maintenance and repair work on patient and hospital equipment and complex mechanical systems to ensure safety and efficient operation of the building systems and equipment. You may utilize your maintenance skills and experience in the performance of preventative and demand maintenance within the exterior and interior of the building. Your duties may include troubleshooting and repairing electronic components on patient and hospital equipment; monitoring, troubleshooting and performing repairs on boilers, HVAC, medical air and vacuum systems and pure water systems. In addition, you may be required to coordinate and assign work to other Maintenance Worker staff in order to meet operational requirements.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of post-secondary education in a related field and/or 1 year specialized/technical training in a related field OR 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate as per ABSA kW rating guidelines or AHS standards where boiler support is necessary. Possession of a valid driver's licence.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Knowledge of HVAC systems, filtration and the ability to review drawings and specifications is required. Familiarity with Computer Maintenance Management systems (CMMS). Basic understanding and use of computer programs such as Word, Excel and Access is required. Must have good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Ability to work independently and work well in a team setting. Must be able to multi-task and have good analytical, organizational and troubleshooting skills. Must be able to work in a hospital environment and work around traumatic events that occur in a hospital setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Working knowledge of pneumatic systems. Ability to use pneumatic, electrical and electronic testing devices to inspect and test instrument and system operation, and diagnose faults.
