ROLE SUMMARY
Do you love sharing local knowledge and meeting people from all over the world? We are looking for people passionate about Golden to be Visitor Information Counsellors.

Reporting to the Destination Services Manager, the role of a Visitor Information Counsellor is to enhance the visitor experience. Through conversation, you will get to know our visitors and help them find the activities or services within town that best suit their needs and interests.

**Responsibilities & Qualifications**:
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Welcome all visitors to the Golden Visitor Centre in a friendly and professional manner;
- Provide relevant and accurate information to all visitors based on their unique needs and interests;
- Promote local tourism products, services and events to encourage longer stays in the community;
- Actively seek out information that may be of interest to visitors, including events, local history and points of interest;
- Accurately record information related to each visitor party for reporting purposes;
- Process payments for national park passes, attraction tickets, maps, and retail store items;
- Restock shelves and update inventory as required;
- Update files and reference materials;
- Maintain a clean, safe and respectful working environment;
- Complete the required Tourism Visitor Information Counsellor Training (TVIC) - Visitor Services Basics and Superhost Foundations of Service Quality and Service for All Online Training;
- Other duties as assigned.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Experience in customer service;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work as a team and independently in a fast-paced environment;
- Confident in using desktop computers, iPads, and payment processing software (training provided);
- Ability to demonstrate initiative;
- Strong problem-solving skills;
- A willingness to maintain appropriate professional dress code and grooming standards is required;
- Ability to speak a second language, including French, German, and Spanish, is an asset;
- Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems is considered an asset;
- Valid First Aid and/or AED training is considered an asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Team environment;
- Able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays;
- Standing for extended periods, bending and lifting.

POSITION TYPE & HOURS
This is a seasonal position with part-time and full-time hours available, with a minimum of 15 hours and up to 37.5 hours weekly. The position runs from mid-May to September 2024.

**Salary/Wage**:
19.50 per hour
