**Assistant Professor in Equine Internal Medicine

an Assistant Professor position in Equine Internal Medicine to join the dynamic multidisciplinary team in his
Department of Clinical Sciences (ambulatory service, equine surgery, anesthesiology, interventional medicine,
cardiology, lameness, farm animal surgery, dentistry, dermatology, neurology, ophthalmology, theriogenology). The
FMV is located in Saint-Hyacinthe, the agricultural capital of Quebec, which has 57 000 inhabitants. The FMV is
located 60 km (37 miles) from Montreal, a vibrant city with an international airport and excellent flight connections to
Europe, the USA and South America. The FMV is also within easy reach of the beautiful, historic Quebec City and
Ottawa, the capital of Canada. The FMV is located off-campus but maintains strong collaborative ties to other faculties
at the _Université de Montréal_ and other universities within the province. FMV is ranked among the top 30 veterinary

3 technicians, 4 residents, and several graduate students (interns, master’s, and doctoral students). The equine
hospital of the _Université de Montréal_ is the busiest referral practice in the region and receives cases from Quebec
and the neighboring states/provinces. The equine hospital has 40 box stalls, including an intensive care unit and
neonatology, an oscillometry respiratory measuring device, a Fluxergy PCR, a covered merry-go-round, a treadmill,
a new dynamic video endoscope, an imaging department (1.5T MRI, fluoroscopy, a new CT scan), and 3 operating
rooms. FMV researchers with research expertise in equine asthma and respiratory disease have access to a research
stable nearby. The proximity of FMV's other departments (Veterinary Biomedicine and Pathology and Microbiology),
also located in Saint-Hyacinthe, offers interesting opportunities for collaboration.

**As a professor, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the excellence of the Faculty of Veterinary**
**Medicine **

through your teaching to students and your research activities, enhancing the reputation of your discipline and
playing an active role in the overall operations of a renowned institution. As such, you will:


Participate in the teaching of equine internal medicine to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as the
continuing education of veterinarians; 

Participate in clinical teaching of the equine internal medicine service to DMV students and graduate students
(including interns and residents); 

Develop research axes and collaborate on various projects in the field of equine internal medicine; 

Contribute to outreach activities within the field of equine internal medicine (publications, conferences, and
others), including participation in various community services in the field; 

Contribute to the overall operations of the University.

Additionally: 

Participate to emergency duties established by the _Centre hospitalier universitaire vétérinaire_ (CHUV).

**To succeed in this role, you will need: **

Hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent; 
Have successfully completed a residency in Equine Internal Medicine and be a diplomate of the American College

of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM); 
Demonstrate interest and aptitude for teaching, research, and clinical activity; 
M.Sc. or equivalent (relevant research achievements); 
Ph.D. or equivalent is considered an asset; 
Expertise in the pathophysiology of respiratory diseases is considered an asset; 
Hold or be eligible to obtain a license to practice veterinary medicine in the province of Quebec (Canada) issued

by the Ordre des médecins vétérinaires du Québec; 
Have adequate knowledge of the French written and spoken language **or** a strong commitment to mastering the

proficiency level required, in accordance with Université de Montréal’s Language Policy. An institutional learning
