**Essential Qualifications**
- Doctoral degree in Nursing (preferred) or a health-related field
- Membership or eligibility to the CNO with full rights of practise as a Registered Nurse,

The School of Nursing has a long history and presence in northern Ontario, and has been preparing
people to enter the nursing profession for over 50 years. The four-year _Bachelor of Science in Nursing _
- (BScN) _program offered in English is nationally accredited by the Canadian Association of Schools
of Nursing, and provincially approved by the College of Nurses of Ontario.

In addition to this undergraduate education, students also have the opportunity to study nursing at
the graduate level. The _Master of Science in Nursing _(MScN) program, offered in English has several
streams: nurse practitioner (clinical stream), advanced nursing practice (course-based stream), thesis
(research stream) and post nurse practitioner certificate (course-based stream). All streams of the
MScN program are offered through distance education, with the exception of on-site requirements
for the Nurse Practitioner program. The School also offers a new master’s degree in Health
Administration through distance education. This new program has been designed to meet the needs

not only of nurses, but also of other healthcare professionals who have shifted to health
administration. The School is proud to contribute to the community by building capacity for
advanced nursing practice in the North and beyond.

Laurentian University, located on Atikameksheng Anishnawbek territory in Sudbury, Ontario, serves
