Mechanical Estimator/coordinator

Maritime Mechanical is a plumbing & HVAC contractor located in Truro, Nova Scotia focused on public and private commercial projects. Maritime Mechanical works closely with commercial general contractors, commercial clients, and subcontractors to provide a complete end to end mechanical solution. Maritime Mechanical is experiencing steady growth and we are looking to add a **Estimator/Coordinator** to our team. This position will report to the lead Mechanical Estimator / Project Manager.
**Your New Role**
As an Mechanical Estimator/Project Coordinator, you will play a key role in estimating upcoming projects, supporting ongoing projects through various administrative tasks within an office environment and supporting the field team as required on jobsites. You will be responsible for intaking new tenders & job opportunities, analyzing project plans & drawings, sourcing pricing from suppliers/subcontractors and working to build competitive pricing for clients that meet their budget. This position will also be involved with project documentation, project start up, safety paperwork and planning, as well as administrative duties to assist with project organization. This role will be predominantly based in an office environment with frequent visits to jobsites.
**Responsibilities & requirements of the role**:
- Estimating and quoting projects, contract changes and service-related repairs
- Completing material takeoffs and labour requirements with a high degree of accuracy
- Draft project estimates, proposals and project documentation for clients / suppliers / etc.
- Ability to read & comprehend mechanical drawings
- Manage & track project documentation with close attention to detail such as RFI’s, addendums, site instructions, shop drawings, O&M Manuals, as-builts, etc.
- Ordering and coordinating deliveries/ pick of project materials
- Proficient in Microsoft Office - One Drive, Outlook, Word, Excel would be an asset
- Professional writing and verbal communication skills
- Experience in both plumbing and HVAC would be a significant asset in this role.
- Self-starter and always one step ahead of what's expected
- Ability to think strategically and adjust to an ever-changing environment
- A valid driver’s license.
