The position is as a Direct Support Professional in our Supported Living program (Group Home).
- assisting people to find a valuable place in his/her community,
- providing the supports people need to be successful with day to day living
- empowering people to recognize and reach personal goals
- creating and finding new opportunity for people so that they are able to fully understand their options
- Develop strong relationships with people supported, families, and community resources
- Work in a team environment to effectively support all people in the program
- Work independently in the community and people’s homes

To provide best support to people the incumbent must develop strong, respectful and positive relationships with the persons supported, family members, a broad range of community organizations, as well as all Mainstream employees.

**Qualifications & Key Requirements**:

- **College Diploma (Social Service Worker or Educational Assistant - Special Needs support Diploma, Social Worker, Developmental service worker, Community Service Worker, or related diploma) OR university degree (Bachelor of Applied Science in Community Social Services, Psychology, Sociology, or related degree)**:

- **Must have a valid Driver’s License (G) and a reliable vehicle; Auto Insurance (with a $1,000,000 liability coverage and a permission to carry non-paying passengers)**:

- **Must have a police clearance (with vulnerable sector screening)**:

- **Must have a valid First Aid, CPR**:

- **Bi-lingual in both French and English is an asset**:

- **Be available to work one weekend per pay period if required**:

- **Be able to lift up to 30 lbs**:

- **Training in Person Centred Thinking is an asset**:

- **Training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is an asset**:

- **Minimum one year working with individuals with developmental disabilities**:

- **Minimum one year working in a related field**

Please note that the selection process will be person centered and utilize matching tools to ensure that employees are well matched to the people they will be supporting, the program, the team and the organization. The selection process will also require you to demonstrate your skills in providing person centered supports and connecting to the community through written exercises, interview questions and hands on activities.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 8 months

Pay: $25.42-$26.12 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
