As an embedded Cloud Specialist, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and developing Cloud infrastructure technology. Your responsibilities will include proactively maintaining and developing all Cloud infrastructure with a focus on Microsoft Azure Services to ensure 24x7x365 uptime service. You’ll engineer systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs, adhering to best practices for managing systems and services across all environments. Troubleshooting issues, analyzing logging information, and reporting performance exceptions will be part of your daily tasks. Additionally, you’ll monitor system performance, engage in capacity planning, and manage software upgrades, patches, and hot fixes on servers, workstations, and network hardware. Collaborating with other teams to develop automation strategies and deployment processes will be essential.
Minimum Requirements:
- Computer Science degree, or Technical College diploma
- 10+ years IT operations and / or IT project execution experience including comprehensive, including in-depth knowledge of Cloud Services including Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services. General knowledge of Windows and Unix server operating systems, VMWare, and storage technology
- Hands-on experience in automation validation testing, establishing staging environments, provisioning and configuration automation including:
- 5-8 years within Azure cloud platform
- 3-5 years with containers (preferably OpenShift or Kubernetes)
- 1-3 years of coding automation (preferably with Terraform or Ansible)
- Extensive expertise in public and private cloud environments, IT infrastructure operations (server/workload, storage/data protection, networks), for various cloud service models.
**Responsibilities**:
- Demonstrates practical experience with major cloud providers like Azure and AWS
- Drive the development and architecture review of Cloud Services, policies and processes, and champion continuous improvement.
- Monitor and support the evolution of cloud adoption through effective engagement with IT Projects, IT Operations, and key business stakeholders
- Mature Suncor’s cloud services through the use of best practices around Automation, Microservices, or other means to enhance reliability while assuring cybersecurity, costs and compliance.
- Updating tracking and ticketing toolsets including ServiceNow for incident/problem/change management, Jira for work tracking. PowerBI, and Power Automate would be considered advantageous.
Location and other Key Details:
- You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 - 6th Ave S.W
- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday with on call rotation
