What’s it like working as a Financial Analyst, Business Reporting at Community Trust Company?
Community Trust Company (CTC) is a member of the Questrade Group of Companies, currently includes Questrade Inc., Questrade Wealth Management Inc., QuestEnterprise and CTC.

Reporting into the Manager, Reporting, the Financial Analyst, Business Reporting will play a key role in preparing the budgets/forecasts and be an active partner in management reporting. Responsibilities of this role include maintaining a robust forecasting and budgeting process and ensure quality and timeliness of corporate and business unit reporting.

This position requires a critical eye, solid analytical skills, advanced skills in Excel, and excellent attention to detail.

In this role, you will prepare annual budget and monthly rolling forecasts. You will perform detailed variance analysis and provide explanations against board approved budgets/previous forecasts. You will analyze KPIs viz. Leverage ratios, Capital ratios, Net interest margin, RoE etc. on a regular basis. You will prepare presentations for audit committee and board meetings highlighting the most relevant findings. You will work with various business unit heads to obtain inputs for the budgeting and forecasting process. You will prepare 5-year projections as well as perform scenario & sensitivity analysis to assist the leadership with valuable insights for long term strategy formulation. You will assist in preparation of various management reports. You will prepare Monthly Business Unit Statements. You will analyze and report actual results compared to budget and forecast estimates, reviewing appropriate variance explanations, bridge analyses and key financial metrics as part of the month end and quarter end packages. And you will perform various ad-hoc analysis for the executive management team.

✔ Have a professional designation or working towards one (CPA, CFA).
✔ Are a University graduate, business/accounting specialization.
✔ Have 3+ years of experience working, in a Professional Services office with Financial Institutions experience.
✔ Have experience working with financial models.
✔ Have knowledge of pricing fundamentals and risk analysis.
✔ Are proficient with Microsoft Windows/ MS Office Applications.
✔ Have advanced Microsoft Excel skills with experience manipulating and arranging large data sets using Pivot tables, Vlookup, and formulas.
✔ Have strong business acumen and analytical skills including ability to conduct quantitative analysis.
✔ Have solid attention to detail and accuracy, while being able to step back to consider the impacts on the consolidated entity.
✔ Have the aptitude to work with large amounts of data and to manipulate, arrange and manage it effectively.
✔ Have the ability to recognize issues and take initiative to work on finding an effective solution.
✔ Have the ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
✔ Bring a positive, can-do attitude to our organization, using creative solutions to solve problems.
✔ Are a strong team player who motivates others to achieve group success.
✔ Establish and build on healthy working relationships with your team and peers.
