TO Live has an exciting full-time opportunity in its Finance Department in the role of Payroll Specialist.

Reporting into the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Specialist is part of the payroll team that is responsible for processing payroll payments to all full and part time employees, supplementary remittances, and assisting with the administration of TO Live’s benefit programs.

**ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Payroll**
- Verify and summarize source payroll data (timesheets & timecards) for input into payroll system.
- Assist with the maintenance of all full time and part time payroll employee files.
- Assist with weekly files for payroll submission of hourly payroll and bi-weekly payroll.
- Assist with the administration of new hires and terminations.
- Prepare and file payroll reports and forms as required for government employment programs (Employment Insurance (EI), Record of Employment (ROE), EI request for Payroll information on employees, CPP).
- Assist with the coordination of group benefit payments, union benefit remittances, and the pension plan for all eligible employees.
- Assist with communication between relevant agencies and employees on benefit inquiries.
- Prepare other statutory and contractual reports and remittances for payment in accordance with required deadlines. Keep apprised of current payroll practices and legislated standards.

**Benefits**
- Assist with the coordination of the group benefit program, union benefit programs, and the pension plan for all eligible employees.
- Assist with communication between relevant agencies and employees on benefit inquiries. Keep apprised of current statutory program and benefit rates changes, union benefit rates, OMERS contribution rates, and group benefits, insurance premium rates and other plan changes.

**Accounting & Administrative**
- Prepare payroll accounting journal entry for entry to the General Ledger.
- Analyze and reconcile payroll balance sheet accounts on a regular basis.
- Prepare and distributes T4 information slips for year end.
- Reconciliation of the payroll register to the general ledger.

**General**
- Act as backup to other payroll staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Payroll Manager, Director of Finance and/or VP of Finance & Administration.

**JOB SPECIFICATIONS**
- Canadian Payroll Association certification and/or five to seven years of payroll and benefits processing, in a non-unionized and unionized environment.
- Sound knowledge of payroll administration principles and practices.
- Sound knowledge of a payroll input software.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Sound knowledge of employment legislation and government benefits.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Flexibility in hours and schedules and include work on nights and weekends as required.
- Lack of natural light in workplace.
- Travel between TO Live venues as required.
